The ODAA is hiring! The ODAA is seeking a Certified Dental Assistant to become our new Student Member Liaison.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the student membership process from start to finish. The Liaison will start by processing student membership applications and will continue by building supportive relationships with student members. They will ensure that the benefits of ODAA membership and the process for Certification are fully explained and understood.

The Student Member Liaison will be the first point of contact for student members during their Dental Assisting program. They will provide support and guidance to students throughout the process of becoming a Certified Dental Assistant. Mentorship to student members will be paramount as they navigate through the busy and often unfamiliar waters of post-secondary education. The Student Member Liaison has a vital role to play in the Association, as student members represent the growth and future of the ODAA.

The ideal candidate will be efficient, highly organized, self-motivated, confident, reliable, and an effective communicator who is proficient in written and verbal communication. This is a leadership role as the successful candidate will be a mentor to our student members. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with data entry and efficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel. Relationship-building, teamwork, and collaborative skills are essential to this role. The position will be held by a person who is competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision.

This is a permanent full-time position consisting of 32 hours per week that will be hybrid, comprising of remote and in-office work at least one day per week at the ODAA office located in London, ON. Hours of work are flexible and will be set after consultation with the CEO. No evenings or weekends. Educational requirements will consist of completion of an approved Level I and II Dental Assisting program. The successful candidate will be a current ODAA member in good standing and hold an active Certification.

Friendly reminder that ODAA memberships expire annually on December 31st. If you haven’t done so yet, be sure to renew your membership ASAP at https://odaa.org/ to avoid late fees and maintain your credentials. ⁠

In addition, all required continuing education credits must be submitted by December 31st to maintain any certifications you hold with the ODAA. ⁠Find more information about continuing education credits in the 2025 Credit Record at https://odaa.org in the Member Menu under “My Credits.”

The Ontario Dental Assistants Association recently launched a new Quality Assurance Program. This new program is designed to ensure that the training and continuing education ODAA members receive are of the highest quality.
Institutions and organizations offering education for Certified Dental Assistants, Certified Dental Receptionists, and Certified Dental Treatment Coordinators are invited to apply for ODAA approval for their programs, courses, or other continuing education offerings.

Once a course or program has been approved by the ODAA Quality Assurance Committee, the course provider can advertise that their course is ODAA-approved.

To have your program, courses, or other continuing education offerings reviewed by the ODAA Quality Assurance Committee, you must complete the application, pay the processing fee, and submit the required supporting materials.

The Quality Assurance Committee, including relevant subject matter experts, will review applications and provide feedback as necessary. Reviews will take 4-8 weeks, depending on the length of your program or course. The ODAA is committed to course approval standards that are fair, equitable and that encourage impartial and objective feedback.

Continuing education activities must provide learning opportunities for ODAA members that enhance their skills and knowledge, utilizing the latest information and technology. Courses will be approved and assigned continuing education credits based on content and presenter qualifications as defined by the ODAA’s Quality Assurance Committee.
