Dr. Laura Donkervoort was born and raised in London, Ontario, and began her formal education at the University of Western Ontario where she completed her Bachelor of Sciences with a Minor in Mathematics. Dr. Donkervoort continued her education in Dublin, Ireland where she graduated medical school training with honours. She then returned home to Canada to complete her family medicine residency in Moncton, NB through the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine. As the director of the medical side of Amber Lee Brewer's health and wellness spa, Dr. Donkervoort will be offering Botox and filler medical cosmetic procedures. BOTOX

Fillers such as Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm are used to provide patients with a more youthful appearance to the face, and may help to restore volume in areas of the face that have developed deep lines, or lost volume over time. Dramatic results have been obtained using fillers in the cheek bone areas, as well as the areas between the side of the nose running down to the outer lips (nasolabial folds) and the lips. The use of fillers requires an artful hand as we sculpt the face into a natural and more youthful appearance. Fillers may also be used to give volume back to aged hands, and may be used concurrently with Botox on deep wrinkles in the facial area for even more dramatic results! Filler products and Botox provide long-lasting relief from wrinkles and fine-lines, with a life span of these products ranging from 8-18 months. While they are not a permanent solution, continued use may result in the elimination of new lines, and may reduce further deepening of wrinkles and fine-lines. Filler procedures are mildly more painful than Botox treatment due to the composition of the material itself – as it is made up of a thicker fluid than Botox. As pain can be a concern for many patients, physicians often apply a topical freezing agent to the skin to help decrease the mild discomfort that may be experienced during filler treatment.
