Our diversity is our strength and with it pride, love and respect for all individuals no matter their orientation or identity. Every June we celebrate our diversity by recognizing the universal truths of love and acceptance. Though many achievements have been accomplished and a lot of progress has been made, Pride Month is also important in recognizing the challenges faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and supporting their rights. In that spirit, please visit the Resource Library for a comprehensive database of health resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals on the Rainbow Health Ontario website, we will be sharing the link in our profile all month long. From May 6th to the 12th, the Canadian Mental Health Association recognizes Mental Health Week, and as a proud partner Craigwood Youth Services keenly understands the importance of mental well-being. This year's campaign is "A Call To Be Kind", a clarion call for all to show kindness and compassion to those who are struggling with their mental health. A small kind gesture, a moment of compassion, a show of empathy or just caring and listening can make a lasting impact on those around you.

Hey everyone! Just a quick heads-up: Our talk in clinic will be closed today due to the solar eclipse 🌞🌚 We want to ensure everyone's safety during this natural phenomenon. This rare event, which has only occurred a couple of times in Ontario in the last 40 years, is not only awe-inspiring but also calls for caution to protect your eyes. Talk In Clinic will return next Monday from 2-5pm.

March is National Social Work Month with March 19th being World Social Work Day. This week from March 4th-10th is Ontario Social Work Week, as recognized by the Ontario Association of Social Workers. This year's theme is which speaks to the important work done by social workers in helping others progress and succeed to the next chapters of their life. The importance of social workers and what they do daily cannot be overstated, and here at Craigwood we not only appreciate but are proud of our team of social workers. In continuing to recognize Black History Month, celebrate with us a special Canadian who fought for equal rights and social justice in a time when it was not popular to do so. Viola Desmond embodies the ideals and spirit of equality, justice and fairness. Her proud stand and sacrifice paved the way for a more equal and fair society. For her outstanding contribution to Canadian society, Viola Desmond was chosen to be the new face of our Canadian 10 dollar bill.

Craigwood offers Talk-In Clinic every Monday (excludes public holidays) from 2pm to 5pm for youths 12-18. Our “Talk-in” services welcome youth and their families to drop in any time, with no appointment or referral, for a single session of Master’s-level counselling as their need arises.

🚧Great Things In Construction🚧

It’s been a busy start to 2024 at Craigwood Children, Youth and Family Services, and we have exciting news to share. Working alongside Andrus, a non-profit organization committed to helping children and families, we have been busy training in and adopting The Sanctuary Model. What is that you ask? The Sanctuary Model is a blueprint for promoting safety and recovery from adversity through the active creation of a trauma-informed community. The first steps involve extensive training both virtual and in-person, which our amazing staff has worked tirelessly through with more to come yet. By adopting this trauma-informed model, Craigwood Children, Youth and Family Services strengthens its mission to deliver evidence-informed and result-driven community mental health services that meet the needs of children, youth and families in a timely, impactful and person-centred way.

Craigwood is appreciative of our essential workers and the advocacy of CMHO to highlight the significant wage gaps and human resource crisis in community children's mental health and affiliated services. Without increased government financial support the community system will continue to shrink.
