As we are heading into the long weekend we thought now would be a good time to remind you that next Thursday (September 4) is a special evening for us —and all of you too, our friends and supporters.

Please join us at TAP Centre for Creativity from 4-7 for a reception. We’d love to see you and thank you in person for your wonderful support of our program. There will be refreshments, brief remarks just after 4:30 AND you will be treated to a performance by the All Our Sisters choir.

The very generous Shady Artists are donating 20% of sales from their 2 week show to support My Sisters’ Place.

There’s lots of street parking in the area and a big municipal parking lot on Queens Ave next to the London Club.

London Coffee House & My Sisters’ Place

Patti has been busy delivering delicious, fresh corn on the cob from her nephew’s farm in Dorchester.

She’s delivered to London Coffee House and My Sisters’ Place. How lucky are we? We are so grateful! Farm fresh local produce for participants who struggle to afford food —and fresh produce is both nutritious and delicious.

London Coffee House:

Huge thanks to Erin from Gateway Church who came by with meals from Best Western today.

London Coffee House does not have a food budget and participants we support live with food insecurity. We know it’s impossible to focus on anything but hunger when you haven’t eaten.

Donations like this one go a long way in improving the lives of those who use our services.

My Sisters’ Place:

This afternoon we held a Red Carpet Viewing Party. Recently our friends from Take 5 spent the day with us to film Tanya’s Story. Having a film crew on site meant the whole house was involved. Today we celebrated together. We watched the video, did some fun photos on the red carpet and enjoyed the afternoon together.

We really appreciate Pam Tobin (CEO of CMHA TV) making time in her schedule to join us today. Pam talked about the importance of a safe place for women in our community and also about the wonderful community support at our recent Black & White Gala..

Together, we raised $166,000 in support of My Sisters’ Place - marking our most successful event in its history!

Because of everyone who was a part of this event, we are helping ensure women in our community continue to have a safe, welcoming space and access to vital programs and supports.

My Sisters’ Place:

What a way to start our day! Artist Sandi McCabe of the Shady Artists dropped by with a donation of paintings for women who are exiting Holly’s House (transitional housing / hotel program) and heading for (permanent) home. It is Sandi’s hope that women will be able to choose a panting to hang on the wall of her new space.

We know this means a lot to women. It serves as a reminder of the connections they’ve made, and a community that supports them.

The second photo is the donation Sandi has made to the silent auction for our annual Black & White Gala. For those who love Gibbons Park, it will be a familiar scene.

The Shady Artists are long-time supporters of My Sisters’ Place. They are inviting all our friends and supporters to the opening reception of their annual show. We hope you’ll come by TAP Centre for Creativity on Thursday, September 4, 4-7. The All Our Sisters Choir will be performing a few songs and you’ll also hear from a woman who has accessed services from our program.

The Shady Artists make beautiful art and they also give back to community in a big way. We hope you’ll stop in for the reception—we’d love to see you or at any time during the show, September 3-13. Take in that beautiful art and know that the artists are donating 20% of sales to My Sisters’ Place.
