London Coffee House:

We hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend. We enjoyed a Dough Boys pizza lunch thanks to our friends down the street at Crouch Library.

We are grateful to be part of this wonderful Hamilton Road community. This area is full of unique shops and businesses as well as terrific neighbours and we take great pride in our partnership with the Hamilton Road BIA, helping to tidy the business corridor.

We operate without a budget for a nutrition program—but thanks to Harvest Hands and other generous donors in the community, we are able to support participants living with food insecurity with some takeaway items as well as something to eat during our drop in hours.

We are grateful beyond measure for community support, and delicious pizza lunches that remind us we’re thought of. Thank you friends!

We have so much to be thankful for. We’re surrounded by a thoughtful and generous community and today we were treated to the most delicious Thanksgiving feast.

To Kyle and Jen from Kyle’s Fried Chicken & BBQ and Tabitha from La Noisette Bakery, we are so grateful for the meal you prepared and served. It was off the charts delicious!

Thank you to our MPP Terence Kernaghan for ensuring our pumpkin pie was well dressed with whipped cream and huge thanks to Pam Tobin, CEO of CMHA TV for being here on this special day and helping to serve.

Friends, we wish we could find the words to describe how fabulous this meal was.

Wow!

If you go to Kyle’s Fried Chicken & BBQ please thank him for giving back in such a big way. Tabitha and La Noisette are a bit trickier as they are wholesale only —but you can drop a comment of thanks below. Two stellar London businesses.

My Sisters’ Place:

Today, October 4th is the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People.

We stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities who mourn the loss of mothers, sisters, children and loved ones who have gone missing or whose lives have been violently cut short or impacted forever.

We started our day yesterday with a meal prepared by Maryanne Kechego —Indian Tacos. Mary Lou Smoke and helper Melissa Deleary joined us for an afternoon of sharing.

Mary Lou led us in song, including the Strong Woman Song and shared the heart break of her sister Debbie being one the many missing and murdered women in this country.

Thank you to Reta and helpers Jasmine and Juliet for their planning and leadership on this emotional and meaningful afternoon.

Recently our friends Chris, Andrea and their two sons came by with a huge load of supplies (thanks to a grant from Foresters) to assemble kits for women at Nicole’s Choice. Toilet roll, paper towel, cleaning supplies, laundry pods, garbage bags, shower curtains with rings and more will be a great help to existing women in the program as well as women who are moving in to their new place.

Nicole’s Choice is a supportive housing program for women. We know these thoughtfully curated bags of supplies will be deeply appreciated by women living there.

Thank you Foresters Financial and Chris, Andrea and boys for your planning, time and skillful assembly.

Can you imagine a pallet of donations arriving in your residential driveway? That’s a lot of supplies!

London Coffee House:

Oh how we wish you could enjoy the bakery aroma!

Stephanie and her team at Purple Lips Bakery sent us away with cookies…so many cookies for the London Coffee House! They will be enjoyed quietly with a coffee or alongside laughter and animated conversation with friends and staff. They’ll be dunked in tea or tucked in a pocked for later.

They will be enjoyed in many different ways, and they will serve as a reminder of kindness in our community. Acts of kindness are so appreciated—and when they involve cookies, all the better!

Huge thanks Stephanie for thinking of us and for all the ways you give back to community.

London Coffee House:

Thanks to our friend Tom who delivered gently worn shoes, donated by his friend Chris.

We would so appreciate more gently used running shoes friends. The shoes that came in during our Saturday donation drive didn’t even make it into the donation room—they were distributed right away.

We are also still looking for pies and whipped cream for our Thanksgiving feast. If you are able to help please let us know!

Donations welcome 7 days a week 9:30-12:30 at 371 Hamilton Road. Phone: 519-204-4719

My Sisters’ Place:

Sincere thanks to Reta along with her helpers Jasmine and Juliet for a meaningful day of programming yesterday.

We cannot have reconciliation without truth. We must confront and acknowledge historical facts and ongoing impacts of past injustices.

My Sisters’ Place:

Friends please note our organization observes National Truth and Reconciliation Day (September 30th) as a holiday. We will be open from 10:30-1:30.

We encourage you to listen, learn, and take time to reflect on the devastating impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities.
