London Coffee House:

Today is a day we’re going to toot our own horn…well, really we’re going to toot the horn(s) of participants in our program.

In partnership with the Hamilton Road BIA, our participants go out into the neighbourhood streets as the “Hamilton Road Clean Up Crew”. You may see them along the Hamilton Road corridor or along side streets, once a week cleaning up, disposing of garbage and connecting with neighbours and business owners while they’re doing it.

Thanks to everyone who has acknowledged the work they’re doing, offered a cold bottle of water or a hot cup of coffee on those bitterly cold winter days. Your words of encouragement go a long way in helping someone feel valued and seen.

We have a waiting list of participants who have stepped forward and want to be part of this amazing partnership! There is a great sense of pride knowing you are helping in the community and participants are grateful to have opportunities to give back.

This wonderful partnership has built relationships, and in a couple of instances led to employment opportunities.

We are so grateful to the Hamilton Road BIA for believing in us and affording us this wonderful opportunity.

My Sisters’ Place:

We are always so grateful when we receive calls from people like Chris and Andrea, asking what we need most and how they can help.

Chris and Andrea are Foresters Financial policy holders and thanks to Foresters’ commitment to giving back to community, they were able to apply for a grant that will have far reaching impact for women in our program.

Basic needs (hygiene supplies) are unaffordable for the women we support. Thanks to our community of friends and supporters like Chris and Andrea, women don’t have to make difficult decisions between deodorant / body wash or a bit of food —or paying a bill or rent.

52 hygiene kits were filled today. 52 women will receive basic items they need and we want you to know how deeply these kits are appreciated.

Thank you to Rose, Rob, Peter, Colin, Jasper, Chris and Andrea for joining us today and supporting us. Thank you Foresters for doing so much to make communities stronger.

My Sisters’ Place:

This morning women were greeted with warm French toast muffins and a delicious fruit salad. Coffee and tea are hot and waiting every morning.

It’s going to be extremely hot over the coming days. Our weekend hours are 10:30-1:30. Come in and cool off, rest, connect with staff and with other women.

My Sisters’ Place:

Our friend Tom played the role of special delivery guy today. Local business Mamasim sent over a 25 lb bag of little red potatoes. Thank you Mamasim!

Tom also did the shopping for the Wordlers. A group of friends who play Wordle daily and the best score for the month chooses a charity to support. Thanks D’Arcy for choosing My Sisters’ Place! This laundry detergent will be well used and very much appreciated by women at My Sisters’ Place.

My Sisters’ Place:

Friends: we are open reduced hours today (Tuesday, July 1) for Canada Day.
We are open from 10:30-1:30 and back to our regular hours tomorrow. (9:30-9:30).

Thank you to our friends from the Y for dropping off food from their barbecue.
We prepare a nutritious, hearty lunch each day but we know how much donated meals and food items are appreciated in the evenings and on weekends and holidays when our kitchen is closed.

London Coffee House:

We are so grateful for the support we receive. This is Linda from Church of the Ascension and she brought in sandwiches, pastries and fruit for participants to enjoy.

Food is an important part of the support we offer. It’s just about impossible to focus on anything but hunger when you haven’t eaten. Staff welcome participants, offer a coffee or tea and something to eat —based on what has come in by donation. Food satisfies hunger, breaks the ice and helps to build connection.

Thanks also to our friends from Gateway Church and Dundas Centre United Church who regularly support the people we serve with food and care packages. Our staff team sincerely appreciate your kindness and generosity as do our participants.
