April is Rosacea Awareness Month
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that most commonly affects the central face - including the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. It can present as persistent redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and sometimes acne-like breakouts.
In Canada, rosacea affects over 3 million people, often between the ages of 30–60, and tends to flare and settle over time.
✨ Common triggers:
• Sun exposure, wind, and temperature changes
• Stress and exercise
• Alcohol, hot drinks, and spicy foods
✨ What helps:
• Daily sun protection - a key step in reducing flare-ups
• Gentle, non-irritating skincare
• Identifying and avoiding personal triggers
• Medical treatments when needed (tailored to your skin)
Rosacea is NOT contagious and NOT caused by poor hygiene - but without treatment, symptoms can progress over time. Early support can make a meaningful difference.
