When is the best time to plan your tummy tuck? ✨

Planning an abdominoplasty requires thinking ahead, especially when it comes to recovery. I typically advise patients to plan for approximately 6 weeks of recovery, allowing enough time for proper healing, swelling to settle, and a gradual return to normal activities. Choosing the right timing can make a big difference in both your recovery experience and final results.

Here are three key things to consider when scheduling your surgery:

➡️ Not right before travel
A tummy tuck requires dedicated downtime, so it’s best to avoid planning surgery close to vacations or long trips. Staying home during early recovery is important for comfort and safety.

➡️ When your weight is stable
Being at or near your goal weight helps ensure longer-lasting and more predictable results.

➡️ When you can fully commit to recovery
Setting aside time to rest, avoid heavy lifting, and focus on healing is essential for a smooth recovery and optimal outcome.

Thoughtful planning sets you up for success and beautiful long-term results. 💖

Last week I had the opportunity to spend time in Winnipeg working alongside Dr. Avi Islur, past president of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, at his clinic The First Glance ✨🩺 It is always inspiring to connect with colleagues and share knowledge, especially after many years in independent practice. Experiences like this help us continue to refine our surgical techniques and bring new ideas back to our patients. 🌍📚

During this visit, I learned a modification the under muscle technique that reduces animation deformity and implant displacement.💡 We also focused on complex revision breast surgery cases including capsular contracture, implant displacement, and significant ptosis, using cadaveric donor dermis to provide additional soft tissue support and improved long term stability. 🔬

This material has more than 30 years of clinical data supporting its safety and effectiveness and provides an excellent option in challenging reconstructive and revision cases.

Thank you to the Johnson and Johnson MedTech Preceptor Program for making this collaborative and educational experience possible. Always grateful for opportunities to learn, grow, and bring new techniques back to my patients. 🙏✨👩‍⚕️

Before and after in real life! ✨

These are real life photos captured by my patient before and after her tummy tuck. Seeing results through the patient’s own lens highlights the natural, meaningful changes this surgery can create. A tummy tuck removes excess skin, tightens the abdominal muscles, and restores a smoother, more contoured midsection.

It’s always incredible to see how confident and comfortable patients feel in their bodies after recovery. 💖

I am excited to announce that microneedling is now available in office! ✨

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This helps improve skin texture, tone, and overall skin quality for a smoother, healthier appearance.

The benefits of microneedling include improved fine lines and wrinkles, reduced acne scars and hyperpigmentation, enhanced skin firmness, and softens stretch marks. It can be performed head to toe, making it a versatile treatment for both facial and body rejuvenation.

Microneedling is also a great option for post-surgical patients, as it can help improve scar texture and support scar recovery once healing is complete. I’m excited to offer this treatment as part of a comprehensive approach to skin health and recovery. 💖✨

6 months after her mastopexy-augmentation. ✨

A mastopexy-augmentation is a combination of a breast lift and breast augmentation. The lift reshapes and repositions the breast tissue and ni**le to a more youthful position, while the augmentation adds volume and fullness using implants.

This patient had a subfascial mastopexy-augmentation with 270 cc moderate profile implants, creating a soft, natural looking result that complements her frame. At this stage, the breasts have settled beautifully, and the scars continue to improve and fade over time. 💖

Is liposuction permanent? 🤔✨

Yes! Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treated areas. During the procedure, we carefully sculpt and contour the body by targeting stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, helping create smoother lines and better overall proportions.

Can you still gain weight after liposuction? Yes. The fat cells that remain in your body can still expand if you gain weight. However, because there are fewer fat cells in the treated areas, those areas typically gain less volume compared to untreated areas. This is why maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle is important to preserve your results long term. 💖✨

6 months after subfascial breast augmentation surgery ✨

Before and after subfascial breast augmentation with 275cc high-profile implants. High-profile implants have a narrower base with more projection, meaning they add forward fullness without adding excessive width. This makes them a great option for patients with a smaller frame who want enhanced projection and cleavage while maintaining a balanced, natural look.

Placed in the subfascial plane, the implants sit above the muscle but beneath the fascia, allowing for a softer appearance, quicker recovery, and preservation of normal muscle movement. At 6 months post-op, the implants have settled beautifully, creating a refined and proportional result. 💖✨

Can plastic surgery help with your New Year’s goals? ✨

Yes, plastic surgery can be a powerful tool when your goal is to feel more confident and comfortable in your body. Depending on what you are hoping to improve, here are a few ways plastic surgery can help:

➡️ Liposuction does not help with weight loss, but it removes stubborn fat cells and contours areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.

➡️ Facial fat grafting restores lost volume, helping to bring back fullness and a more youthful, refreshed appearance to the face.

➡️ Mastopexy, or a breast lift, repositions the breasts and removes excess skin to create a lifted and more youthful breast shape.

When used thoughtfully, plastic surgery can complement a healthy lifestyle and help you step into the new year feeling your best. 💖✨

Real life results 💪✨

This patient had a tummy tuck combined with liposuction, a powerful combination that works together to create a smoother, more contoured abdomen. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens the underlying muscles, while liposuction targets stubborn fat to refine the waist and improve overall shape.

When performed together, these procedures enhance each other, creating a more natural, balanced result and a flatter, more sculpted silhouette. 💖

About Dr. Hana Farhang

Dr Hana Farhang Khoee is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada with extensive experience in both Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Farhang has worked in hospitals and private clinics throughout Ontario and the United States. She completed her residency in Plastic Surgery at McMaster University, followed by a fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery at the world-renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. There she was mentored by the world leaders in Plastic Surgery to manage complex cases related to breast, head and neck, extremity, and perineal cancer reconstruction.

Upon her return to Canada, she began working as a Trauma Surgeon at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, dealing with complicated traumatic injuries related to the craniofacial skeleton, as well as upper and lower extremity limb trauma. She also worked at the McLean Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, where she furthered her aesthetic surgical experience and conducted female-to-male (FTM) chest masculinisation surgeries for transgender patients.

In the summer of 2017, Dr Farhang was recruited to Windsor, Ontario to develop a Breast Reconstruction Program – a service the city had been without for over 10 years. She brings with her a wealth of experience in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and has since performed the city’s first immediate implant-based breast reconstruction in over a decade and its first chest masculinisation surgery for a female to male transgender patient.

Dr Farhang is intensely committed to improving patient outcomes and quality of life following surgery. As a part of this, her practice employs “Breast-Q,” a personalized questionnaire specifically developed for breast reconstruction patients to better evaluate their needs and improve long-term outcomes.
