London, ON â On Wednesday, local MPP met with the team at Family Service Thames Valley to hear more about the $100,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the provincial governmentâs (OTF) that was used to provide psycho-education, debriefing support and space for staff to address the impact of the work on their mental well-being.
"Through the Ontario Trillium Foundationâs Resilient Communities Fund, our government is proud to support organizations like Family Service Thames Valley, who are creating safe spaces for healing and growth. By prioritizing the mental health of frontline workers, this project strengthens not only the people behind the services but the communities they serve,â said Teresa Armstrong, MPP for LondonâFanshawe.
This project successfully created safe and supportive spaces for staff and leadership to reflect, share, and begin healing from COVID-related stress. It fostered emotional well-being, strengthened team dynamics, and deepened leadership engagement, all critical steps toward building resilient, compassionate workplaces in a post-pandemic world. The project supported 10 partner organizations working across supportive housing, homelessness, health care, violence and trauma support, and youth services. Throughout the project, more than 130 participants were engaged. FSTV facilitated 72 group debrief sessions, provided 120 one-on-one support sessions, and delivered 30 hours of psychoeducational programming.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
