Research shows that patients forget about 50% of the information they receive during a healthcare appointment. For many people, stress, information overload, and medical jargon make it hard to remember what their healthcare providers tell them and understand what to do with the information.

Ontario residents, if you want to get more from your healthcare appointment, we can help! The Getting The Most From Your Healthcare Appointment workshop can help you prepare for your appointments, communicate better with your healthcare providers, and leave your appointments feeling confident that you understand the information you receive.

Our next FREE online workshop will be held on Monday, October 6 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. It's a short time investment that can pay long-term benefits for your health and future!

Registration is open now at https://www.swselfmanagement.ca/support-for-people-with-health-conditions.

The Queen's University School of Nursing is hosting a Participatory Knowledge Exchange Event (PKEE) to discuss barriers to diabetes self-management and ways to improve diabetes self-management education (DSME) for older adults in rural communities.

If you are an older adult in a rural area who has diabetes, are a caregiver for someone who has diabetes, or are a health care provider serving a rural area, please consider joining the conversation. Sessions will be held virtually on Tuesday, October 21 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM (ET) and Thursday, October 23 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM (ET).

This collaborative event will engage participants through small-group discussions. Insights will inform the Queen's School of Nursing's CIHR-IA funded study and the development of more accessible, community-driven DSME programs.
