⏰ 7:00–9:00 PM By Circumstance, Not By Choice is a collaboratively created zine that shares the everyday experiences of harm and hate encountered by nine unhoused community members in London, Ontario. These stories are shared through their words and graphic illustrations by local artist Hailey Tallman.
The zine emerged from a five-month, relationship-based process involving people with lived experience of homelessness, staff at the London InterCommunity Health Centre (LIHC), a local artist, and graphic designers.
We invite you to join us for an evening of conversation, gathered in circle, within a space shaped by the zine’s images and excerpts. This gathering offers an opportunity to sit with the stories shared, reflect on their impacts, and consider how our understanding of homelessness — and our shared responsibilities to one another — might shift through witnessing and dialogue.
Space is limited to 15 people. An electronic copy of the zine will be shared in advance with registered participants, with printed copies available during the discussion.
