Introducing common allergens around 6 months is an important step in your baby’s feeding journey 👶🥄

One helpful tip: try to minimize contact between the food and your baby’s skin. When allergens sit on the face (especially around the mouth), they can sometimes cause skin irritation that looks like a reaction—even when it’s not a true allergy.
Instead, aim to offer the food directly into your baby’s mouth using a spoon when possible.

Small tweaks like this can help you feel more confident as you introduce new foods 💛 Reach out if you have any questions or want to chat more!

Prenatal hand expression is a great skill to start practicing during pregnancy—*if you’re at term and your primary healthcare provider has given you the go-ahead.*

It’s a wonderful way to:
• Learn the technique before you might need it in a pinch
• Get to know your body and your colostrum
• Possibly collect a small amount of milk before baby arrives

That said, it’s important to remember that not everyone will collect milk—and that’s completely normal. If you do, it’s usually just a few drops to a couple of millilitres.

Before starting, always check in with your healthcare provider to make sure it’s a safe option for you.

Have questions about prenatal hand expression? Feel free to reach out—I’m here to help 🤍

What’s the tea with ni**le pain?! 🍵

Honestly…there can sometimes be some discomfort in the first couple of days but there really should not be any broken/damaged skin, toe-curling pain, or pain that is getting progressively worse or not improving over course of the first week.

When in doubt, reach out to a health care provider who has experience with breastfeeding support!

🚨 Breastfeeding PSA 🚨

Discomfort at first? Normal.

Toe-curling pain, cracked skin, or suffering through feeds? NOT normal.

The early discomfort that may come with breastfeeding should improve and resolve quickly—often within the first week.
If it doesn’t (and especially if your ni**les are damaged), get help from a lactation professional ASAP. You deserve better. 💪✨

And try do I ever — because I honestly love my job 🥹

I get to show up for parents and walk alongside them as they figure out breastfeeding, bottle feeding, weaning, returning to work, and so much more.

A lot of people have no idea what I mean when I say I’m a lactation consultant—it’s pretty niche, I get it 😂
But I am so lucky to have landed where I did. Thanks for putting your trust in me 💛

✨ Getting infant feeding off to a great start? Here are my top tips to help you and your baby thrive! 💕

👶 1. Learn before baby arrives
A little prenatal education goes a long way! Learning about breast and chest feeding before birth can make those first few days a lot easier.

🤱 2. Bring baby to your chest early
Skin-to-skin and early feeding help get milk flowing and give baby those important early calories.

⏰ 3. Feed frequently
Newborns usually feed every 2–3 hours (sometimes more!). Frequent feeds keep baby full and help build your milk supply.

🛋️ 4. Get comfy
Set up a cozy feeding spot—pillows, snacks, water, maybe a stool for your feet. Comfort makes a big difference!

💞 5. Build your village
Support = success! Talk about your feeding goals with loved ones, connect with local support groups, and find out who your lactation consultants are.

🚩 6. Reach out early for help
If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Early support can make a HUGE the difference—there’s amazing help out there for you. 💪

Remember….you’ve got this! And I’m here for you if you need me 💜
