End of life doulas are non-medical professionals who support the dying, their family and caregivers before, during and after death without judgement. They give voice to the person dying and facilitate a more beautiful and less painful journey. End of life doulas facilitate the creation of a personalized plan based on the needs and desires of the dying which may include:
- life review
- legacy work

- advance care planning
- grief education
- creating a death plan (for any location)
- advocating
- non-medical pain management
- vigiling (in any location)
- planning and assisting with a home death
- grieving and bereavement support

End of life doulas do not:
- offer medical support
- force their own agenda
- make decisions on behalf of the dying
