March was a fun one at Meadow Edge House 🤍

We tried some new games like Sticky Ball Hat, and Maevell even created a custom shuffleboard for everyone to enjoy. Lots of laughs, friendly competition, and new faces joining our games who usually watch from the sidelines. It was so nice to have everyone playing!

Our routines are still going strong, and now we’re all looking ahead to spring and can’t wait to get outside for fresh air, walks, and games on the deck.

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day at Meadow Edge House 🍀

Today we’re celebrating a little bit of Irish luck here at Meadow Edge House. There may be a few shades of green around the home, a few sweet treats, and plenty of smiles as we enjoy the day together.

We did ask if anyone had found the pot of gold… but apparently the leprechaun moved it again. 😉

Here are the results from two rounds of our chair bowling competition featuring Evelyn, Cecile, Carol, and Marj.🤍

Round One:
The first round set the pace, with Cecile taking the win.
Marj followed close behind.
Carol stayed right in the mix.
Evelyn came in strong and knocked down some great pins.

Round Two:
Cecile once again came out strong.
Carol held steady with a great round.
Marj and Evelyn were neck and neck in a close finish, keeping everyone on their toes and the cheering loud.

Lawrence proudly supported from the sidelines, applauding with great delight and enjoying every moment

There was plenty of laughter, lots of cheering, and just the right amount of friendly competition. It’s always fun to see everyone so engaged and enjoying time together. We’ll be adding a trophy to our activity hour, along with our prize jars, so the lighthearted rivalry is only going to grow from here.

Another wonderful afternoon at Meadow Edge, and we’re already looking forward to the next round. 🏆

✨ Lunar New Year at Meadow Edge House ✨
February 17, 2026

Our residents had a wonderful time celebrating the Lunar New Year together. There was lots of excitement as they scratched their lucky cards. Dianne won a free card, and Lawrence won $1, which brought plenty of smiles. Everyone enjoyed the activity, the laughter, and their toonie chocolates.

Our health care aide shared residents’ birthdays along with their zodiac signs, and everyone loved hearing the descriptions. Many agreed they fit them perfectly, which led to some fun conversations.

For many, this was a new experience, and it was fun to learn about and incorporate new traditions into our daily life here at Meadow Edge.

Wishing our Meadow Edge families a happy Lunar New Year and a joyful Year of the Horse filled with health and good fortune 🧧

What a fun way to wrap up January!

Today we welcomed Mz. Muzik and BowTie Guy, and the house was filled with music, laughter, and so much joy. We celebrated the Riders, clapped our hands, stomped our feet, and shared plenty of giggles, bubbles included.

We’ve had a fun and busy month finding ways to stay active, engaged, and connected as the frigid temperatures settle in. Daily movement has been a big focus, with many residents upgrading their workout routines by incorporating light weights to help keep their bodies strong and moving.

There’s also been lots of variety throughout the home, including a spa day, several art and craft sessions, and time spent trying new recipes as part of our updated menu. One highlight was our very first make-your-own sundae dessert, which brought plenty of smiles and choice, with everyone picking their favourite toppings. Next time, hopefully we are sitting on a warm deck 😂

Creativity has been flowing as well. From guided projects to more open-ended art, residents have enjoyed expressing themselves in their own way, and we now have some beautiful new pieces to enjoy around the home. It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of January. A new year and such a great start. We also welcomed two new entertainers into the home this month, adding even more joy and connection to our days. It’s truly been a good month.

February is shaping up to be just as full, with lots planned for the weeks ahead. We’re looking forward to sharing more of the moments and activities that make Meadow Edge feel like home.🤍

We’re so happy to have Karen back with us at the home, and that means it’s time to start a brand new book together 📖🤍

Our next read is Words on Fire, a powerful story about courage, resistance, and the quiet strength found in books and friendship during wartime. It’s one of those stories that pulls you in slowly and stays with you as it unfolds.
Book club has become one of our residents’ favourite moments of the week. There’s always a warm drink in hand, sometimes a little snack (usually thanks to Bob — who has the sweetest sweet tooth, and we love him for it!), and lots of shared smiles and conversation.

We’re excited to settle in, turn the pages together, and see where this story takes us.

Happy 94th birthday, Evelyn! 🎂

Today, we celebrate a woman whose warmth and grace fill every corner of our home. Her kind spirit, gentle smile, and genuine care for those around her make Meadow Edge House feel like family.

Her loved ones shared how she’s always been the heart of every gathering, where laughter flowed freely, delicious food brought everyone together, and not even a heavy snowfall could stop the celebration. She is always creating with her hands, whether knitting, crocheting, or stitching quilts filled with love for her children and grandchildren.
In the kitchen, her grandchildren delighted in helping her, especially when it came to sneaking in those secret ingredients that made her cooking unforgettable.

Evelyn, your creativity, love, and light continue to inspire everyone lucky enough to know you. 💐 We can't wait to celebrate you today!

Our residents had so much fun getting into the Halloween spirit with a little masked fun! 🎃👻

They spent the afternoon decorating their masks, chatting with one another, and getting creative with their designs, a perfect mix of laughter, connection, and creativity.

If you’re in the Lumsden area, don’t forget to pop over to 𝟱 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. Our pumpkin light will be glowing, and our residents would love to see all the cute and spooky costumes.
