The Red belted conk or Fomitopsis pinicola is a common polypore found in many parts of the NW and Europe. It grows on conifers such as fir. Personally I've used it as a medicinal tea to aid in sleep and help with relaxation. It is a powerful antioxidant and may have anticancer properties!

Lactarius torminosus is a naturally spicy Fungi found in many regions of the North West. It's distinct spicy flavour can be used to garnish dishes, but care must be taken as these aren't considered to be edible although no fatality has ever occurred (with any Lactarius spp).
