‼️Dealing with Tennis Elbow/Golfer’s Elbow now that we are in the full “swing” of summer sports/activities❓❓
Did you know massage therapy can help?
What exactly is Tennis Elbow/Golfer’s Elbow?
Well, they are tendinitis. Tendinitis is the inflammation of a tendon, typically caused by overuse or repetitive motion. Tennis Elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is felt at the lateral (outside) aspect of the elbow joint, while Golfer’s Elbow, or medial epicondylitis, is felt at the medial (inside) aspect of the elbow. They have both been nicknamed according to the typical activities that can cause them. However, Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow can be caused by almost any repetitive motion/use that involves the respective muscle group surrounding the elbow joint. So even if you don’t engage in tennis, you can absolutely develop Tennis Elbow.
How can massage therapy help? When dealing with tendinitis, our main goal is to reduce muscle tension in the affected muscle as well as the surrounding tissues that may be generating more pull or tension on the affected tendon itself. As massage therapists, we can also help guide you through home care activities like proper stretching techniques, or advise you on when it may be time to seek advanced care.
