Wonderful that our Sydney is serving a term on the College of Dental Hygienists of Nova Scotia Council. Way to go stepping up in this volunteer capacity. It’s Dental Hygiene Week in Canada. Wishing all our fellow dental hygienists a wonderful week and a great April as it is Oral Health Month.

So awesome that Dental Offices are referring patients to independent dental hygienists to keep their patients healthy with consistent and timely dental hygiene appointments.

If your dental office is backlogged and you can’t get in for your 6 month, 4 months, 9 months or even annually, we would be happy to see anyone who would like to have their hygiene needs taken care of.

We bill most insurance plans directly just as your dental office does and we are very pleased to be a provider for the new Canadian Dental Care Plan which launches this year. 🪥🦷❤️

We have had numerous inquiries about the roll out of the upcoming Federal Government Canadian Dental Care Plan, CDCP. The following is the application schedule.

The federal government unveiled details of its Canadian Dental Care Plan CDCP today!

To qualify for the CDCP, Canadians must meet the following criteria.

they do not have access to dental insurance
they have an annual adjusted family net income under $90,000
they must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes
a tax return from the previous year must have been filed

Canadians who already have access to dental benefits through provincial, territorial, and federal social programs and who meet these criteria will still be able to apply for the dental program, according to the media release.

When will the dental program start?

Applications for the dental plan will first open for seniors aged 87 and up starting in December 2023, expanding in phases by age group. People in this age bracket who may be eligible will receive a letter inviting them to apply, according to the federal government’s announcement.

Starting in January 2024, seniors aged 77 to 86 can then apply. Then in February 2024, seniors aged 72 to 76 can apply. Starting in March 2024, seniors aged 70 to 71 can apply.

And then in May 2024, seniors aged 65 to 69 can start applying.

Canadians with a valid disability tax credit certificate and children under the age of 18 will be able to apply online starting in June 2024.
