Scheduled me time. A time where I can sit down by myself and put away all of my distractions. I focus on what brings me peace and helps me to feel calm. Most of the time I’m praying and reflecting about things I’m grateful for and tasks I’m struggling with. Somehow, I come away feeling refreshed and I gain a fresh perspective on how to handle my challenges. These are a few of the many reasons why scheduled me-time is so important to me. Notice how I write “scheduled”; despite how helpful these moments are, I need to force myself to do it. If you’re a busy bee like me, it’s so easy to push your self-care further and further back on your to-do list. Recently I needed the reminder to start having consistent me-time again, and I wanted to encourage you to do the same. Or if you’re already doing this, keep it up, I’m so proud of you!

Ignatia amara homeopathic. For the currently tearful, sad, and melancholic. For those who suffered shock, grief, or disappointment. For those who are sensitive, quick to perceive, and rapidly execute tasks. For those who’ve been driven to hysteria or heartbreak. I feel you. While the sun sets on this time in your life, remember that another door is opening. Trust that you can let this go and something more special will fall into your hands.

Women’s Health Series 👭🏻 💜 🌸
80% of women experience some form of PMS and 50% of women who have their period/menstrual have pain each month, this is called dysmenorrhea. It’s important to distinguish if you have primary or secondary dysmenorrhea.
Primary dysmenorrhea is likely when you started to experience menstrual pain 6-12 months after your first ever menstrual cycle, it can be managed with an OTC painkiller, and your blood work is usually normal.
Secondary dysmenorrhea is likely when your menstrual cramps started at least 2 years after your first period, cannot be well-managed with medication or birth control pills, and your blood work may come back abnormal.
Management for each type is different, and it’s important that you investigate the underlying causes. There are conditions that may lead to poor sleep, weight gain, anemia, and infertility. Talk with a professional and prioritize your health!

I’m so excited to see more and more studies on the microbiome. Our body contains TRILLIONS of bacteria, outnumbering the number of our own human cells! Is there any question that these bacteria have a huge impact on our health, not only physically, but mentally as well? While we’re just scratching the surface of all this new information, it really speaks to how important our gut and nutrition is.
Correlation of microbiome features with host quality of life and depression identified specific taxa and microbial pathways in two independent, large population cohorts, identifying links between microbial neuroactive potential and depression.

Your Problem is My Passion. Too Cheesy?
People ask me all the time what I like to focus on? Digestive health? Hormones? Pain? Sure! As long as I have connected with a patient and they are willing to commit to change, I will research, brainstorm, and treat it to the best of my ability. My patients are my passion and serving in that doctor-patient relationship is one of my greatest purposes on Earth. I am also offering telemedicine appointments in light of the current situation. Do you suffer from a chronic condition that you’re convinced cannot improve? Often our medical system leaves us with a lot of questions that cause us to feel hopeless about having any positive changes. I’m Dr. Jessica Wu, a naturopathic doctor practicing in the natural landscape of the lower mainland.
I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of British Columbia. After many summers spent working in customer service on my family’s certified organic blueberry farm, Formosa Nursery. Spending time with my family and our customers opened my heart to a natural cure and ignited a passion for me to study natural health and medicine. So, I endeavored into a 4-year doctorate program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster and broadened my horizons as a naturopathic physician.
You want to take a few simple steps
I am an advocate for the principle of having your doctor as a teacher, being passionate about educating others, and becoming a resource for achieving optimal health. I also deeply value an authentic connection with my patients, in order to prepare individual and research-based treatment to address not only your main concerns but the whole person. Everyone holds their own unique journey and path in which I hope to understand, support, and medically advise along the way.
Your problem, my passion
I seek to address any underlying causes of your symptoms in the physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual realms. I am particularly fascinated with helping with digestive health and mental wellness as my studies have transformed my personal well-being. Naturopathic medicine has allowed me to combine my love for nature and health, allowing me to thrive and gain the privilege to work and share that possibility with others.
You want to do this naturally and effectively
With a firm belief in the philosophy and therapeutic order of naturopathic medicine, I am determined to use my knowledge, skills, and tools to build and support your cornerstones for optimal health. My training has allowed me to combine the science and art of both Western and Eastern medicine in my assessment and treatment protocols. I believe that using the best of both aspects can bring about the true healing power of nature. It’s an absolute joy for me to use alternative medicine to see those around me flourish.
