🦶Heel pain? Might be due to Bone spur...
Bone spurs, also known as osteophytes, are bony growths that can form on the feet. They can occur in the heel, under the sole of the foot, or on the toes.
🔶️ Causes:
✅️Pressure and stress
Bone spurs can form from pressure, rubbing, or stress on the feet over time. This can be caused by:
Tight ligaments
Activities like running and dancing
Being overweight
Poorly fitting shoes
✅️Aging
As people age, the tissue that covers the ends of bones breaks down, which can lead to bone spurs
🔶️Symptoms
✅️Bone spurs can cause pain when walking or wearing shoes
✅️They can also irritate soft tissues, interfere with joint movement, or put pressure on nerves
🔶️Treatments
🔶️Non-surgical treatments: These include:
✅️Physical therapy (Shockwave Therapy - it's a non invasive treatment option for heel spurs that uses high energy sound waves to stimulate the healing process by breaking up calcifications on the heel bone, effectively reducing pain associated with the spur)
✅️Orthotics, like shoe inserts or heel cups
✅️Pain relievers
✅️Resting, icing, and stretching the affected area
🔶️Surgery: If non-surgical treatments don't work, surgery can be considered.
