EDIT- We are not closing. We are fighting to stay here. To remain a part of the heartbeat of this community. but we need support.

There are moments in a small business that stay with you.

A few years ago, our shop experienced something that changed us. Many of you showed up in ways we will never forget, and because of that, we were able to reopen our doors in just 9 weeks instead of 9 months like the insurance company told us.

What we didn’t fully understand at the time is that not all of the costs would be covered, and a portion has quietly followed us ever since.

If we’re being honest, this has been heavy.

We’ve tried to just keep going. To figure it out. To carry it quietly while still showing up for you in the way we always have.

Maybe we didn’t know how to ask for help.
Maybe we didn’t want to let anyone down.
Maybe we just believed we could outwork it.

But the truth is… it hasn’t gone away.

So we’re making the decision to finally close this chapter, and move forward with a clean slate.

April 1st is more than just a day—it’s a special one for us. It’s Tim’s (Dad’s) birthday, and today he turns 65! 🎉

As the leader of Garden Hill Funeral Home, he sets the standard with dedication, compassion, and integrity. But beyond that, he is the heart and leader of our family 💚

Thank you for being such an incredible example—as a boss, a husband to Mom, a father to your sons, and a proud grandfather to your eight grandchildren. Your guidance, strength, and love mean everything to us.

TRAVELLING WITH CREMATED REMAINS UPDATE!
When travelling with a loved one’s cremated remains, a little preparation can make all the difference.

Did you know:
• The container must pass through airport security screening
• Security officers are not permitted to open the container
• Materials like wood, plastic, or cardboard are more likely to be approved

Taking a moment to plan ahead can help avoid unexpected stress at the airport.

"Because cremated remains are a dense material that can be difficult to screen, we encourage you to consider alternative transportation methods, such as air cargo services, especially for remains over 350ml" -CATSA
