Why is Tylenol being discussed around Autism? Is there a correlation? A connection? HOW is it even related?
Leucovorin was also talked about in speech delivered by Trump but I am going to leave that for another post. Note: Leucovorin has been used for years in supporting speech and in children with PANS/PANDAS - it is Folinic Acid which those of us that work with complex pediatric cases, have known for many years. This may be the first time you are hearing about it because it was announced from a very large stage :)
The questions we should be asking first is, what is Autism. ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder, is a spectrum. What do we see within the spectrum? We see children thriving - whom can speak, walk, work, have relationships, play sports, paint etc. Then we see the other side of the spectrum where we see lack of speech, lack of fine and gross motor skills, behavioural challenges, acuity differences, failing to thrive, the need for 24/7 care etc.
There is a SIGNIFICANT difference between Level 1 Autism and Level 3 Autism. I have always questioned, what is going on at Level 3? What does this then have to do with Tylenol?
Tylenol falls in being apart of the significance of Level 3. Why? Because Level 3, or profound Autism, has neuroinflammation in most all cases. It was neuroinflammation that moved a child from Level 1 to 3.
How does acetaminophen cause neuroinflammation? It’s toxic metabolite NAPQ1. This metabolite is converted in the liver by the use of glutathione. What happens when glutathione storages are used up? This metabolite will now circulate systemically, eventually reaching the brain. When it does, it aids in neuroinflammation. Is low grade neuroinflammation healthy in an infant that is undergoing rapid neurodevelopment? Absolutely not. In fact it would impede neurodevelopment. This is why it is not recommended in pregnancy and why we need to be incredibly respectful of the human body when we give it things. May struggle removing."
What should you do if you do use Tylenol or paracetamol? you make take Glutathione. And even better if you take it with NAC. The best option is to not use it at all and turn to alternative measures.
