At Richview Manor, our residents recently came together to honour Bell Let’s Talk Day, a time dedicated to raising awareness around mental health and the importance of open, meaningful conversations for people of all ages.
This year’s Bell Let’s Talk initiative, “Taking a moment for mental health,” aligns closely with the experiences of our residents and the ways they care for their well-being each day. Mental health follows us through our daily lives, and for seniors, taking intentional moments to pause, reflect, and connect can have a meaningful impact.
Our residents took part in activities that support both physical and emotional wellness. Some chose to engage in gentle exercise, helping their bodies feel strong and energized, while others expressed themselves through art — a mindful and creative practice that encourages relaxation, focus, and self-expression. We were grateful to collaborate with the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, who supported an art program in recognition of Bell Let’s Talk, helping residents explore their thoughts and emotions through creativity in a meaningful and supportive way. Through these activities, residents took time to reflect, prioritize their own mental well-being, connect with others, and recognize the importance of caring for their mental health.
At Richview Manor, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where mental health is acknowledged, supported, and openly discussed. Today served as a powerful reminder that caring for our mental health looks different for everyone, and that every voice — regardless of age — deserves to be heard.
Together, we continue to break the stigma surrounding mental health — one moment, one conversation, and one act of self-care at a time. 💬💙
