YEAR END MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR:
It is hard to believe that yet another year has come and gone. But it has, and there is much to be thankful for.
Our new Brightshores Markdale Hospital celebrated its FIRST Anniversary. All of us who work in the building still have to remind ourselves that this amazing facility with its state of the art amenities and shiny new equipment is really ours! What a pleasure it is to serve our patients in this environment - and we have YOU to thank.
So much has happened over the past year here at the Markdale Hospital. We watched as our Scope Centre began receiving patients, and the new Skin Cancer Clinic became a reality. In addition, our donors have provided funds to purchase numerous pieces of equipment so our staff have the tools they need to provide exceptional care when you need it most.
This year, your funds have purchased; new cautery machines, a blanket warmer, three digital imaging monitors, new equipment for our physiotherapy department, and laboratory here in Markdale. In addition, your donor dollars supported spiritual care, and staff development, as well as providing significant funds to support the new Wellness Facility, the Brightshores Research and Innovation department and funds towards the incredibly important mammography suite replacement in the Owen Sound Hospital.
I am in a unique position to view these changes through numerous lenses. I have grown up in this community and I see the benefits of exceptional health care for my family and friends available right here, just steps from my home. My career has been here in the Markdale Hospital and as a member of staff, your donations exemplify your appreciation, gratitude and respect for what we do. In addition, as Chair of the hospital Foundation, I am filled with gratitude knowing we have donors like you, standing behind us, supporting us, and celebrating each milestone with us, and it makes me proud.
So, as I look back on 2024, through any lens - I wish to extend appreciation for all you have done to make health care a priority in our community.
