Medquip - Give a Breath of Life A fundraiser to purchase urgent medical care equipment for the hospitals in Sri Lanka to treat COVID patients.

There is a dire need for medical equipment for hospitals across all provinces in Sri Lanka. Medical Equipment requirement runs from hospitals in urbanized regions in western province to hospitals in other areas. With enough medical equipment and supplies our front-line staff will have a fighting chance to save the lives of our friends and families in Sri Lanka. Shraddha Charity Organization is working with the College Of Anaesthesiologists
And Intensivists Of Sri Lanka to identify and procure medical equipment to support
the influx of Covid Patients. There are other medical equipments not listed which is in receipt of quotations
from. With the quotations received so far, SL hospitals require $3.2million to procure them. The cost of procuring required medical equipment may reach up to $5 million once the quotations are substantiated for the medical equipment in receipt of quotations. This is a daunting endeavour that can only be overcome with the collective effort of all of us.

We received a batch of medical equipment valued at approximately CAD $1M (if purchased new) from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto to be donated to underprivileged hospitals in Bibile and Matara.
The shipment included one ultrasound machine, 10 ventilators, several bedside monitors, and more.
We partnered with MedicAid Sri Lanka who will be responsible for storage, inspecting, shipping, customs clearance in Sri Lanka, as well as dispatching them to the hospitals. MedicAid provides 100% traceability through a barcode scanning system and has teams on ground in Sri Lanka to dispatch the batches appropriately to needy hospitals.

Special thanks go out to venerable monks at the Mahamevmawa Buddhist Monastery in Toronto for their guidance and direction, the head of Clinical Engineering at the St. Joseph’s Hospital - Toronto, and to everyone who contributed.

A big shout out to our friends at MedicAid Sri Lanka for being willing to store, transport and dispatch the equipment.

Dear Friends, We have donated three oxygen regulators worth 90,000 LKR to the District Hospital Galamuna, a rural hospital in Polonnaruwa, after an extensive search for an eligible hospital. The Galamuna District hospital notified us that their oxygen regulators were broken and not in working condition.

The staff at the hospital were very appreciative of our generosity as it was much-needed during these challenging times.

Please see the Facebook post from the doctor in charge of the hospital.
