This year, the MOVEMBER Men's Health Movement is focused on mental wellbeing, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Here are 5 recommendations to help men improve health and longevity:
1. Spend time with people who make you feel good. Check in with friends and family regularly.
2. Talk more. By simply being there for someone and listening, you can make a key difference in a person’s life.
3. Know your numbers, know your risk, talk to your doctor. At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it's right for you to have a PSA test. If you are of African or Caribbean descent or have a father or brother with prostate cancer, start this conversation at 45.
4. Get to know what's normal for your testicles. Give them a check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn't feel right.
5. Move more. Add some activity to your day, by doing more of what makes you feel good. Add more walking into your routine, and find time for enjoyable activities. Talk to a healthcare professional for more advice.
