Participated at the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination Event.

Apart from showcasing our Federation and College, we also gave out free blessed gifts from Venerable Master Haitao including the water offering cups, and wristbands with different mantras. The gifts were well-received by many, and some even asked me to record the mantras used in water offering so they can use it themselves.

So glad to know that many are excited about our upcoming events including Family Self-Defence, Licensed holistic practitioner program, Taoist Retreat and our annual conference in September/ October.

Today marks the birthday of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was mostly known for his vow to take the responsibility to guide all living beings existed in the six realms between the departure of Lord Buddha and the rise of future Buddha, Maitreya.

According to the history of Mahayana Buddhist Tradition, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha took vow, not to achieve Buddhahood until all beings are free from hell and all hells are emptied.

One can offer fragrant flowers, reading the “Sutra of the original vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva” and or reciting the name of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

With the great compassionate blessings from Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, may all that deceased be liberated.

May us follow and bring the spirit of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva into practice: to resolve to the will of practicing filial piety and liberating all sentient beings.

恭迎地藏王菩薩聖誕

地獄未空。誓不成佛。
眾生度盡。方證菩提。

跟每天如是，大家可以供花、恭誦《地藏菩薩本願經》或誦念地藏王菩薩聖號。

Hold the poplar branches to sprinkle the nectar from the bottle, blessing all sentient beings, year in, year out. Answer countless prayers to ferry them across the sea of ​​affliction.

高僧大德們涅槃的示現，讓大眾更強烈的去直面無常，也提醒了我自己不能懈怠，要盡己之力好好護法，更要好好自我完善，在師父坐下精進踏實修行，更好的追隨師父利益大眾。

紹雲長老在幾個訪談節目上都分享過虛雲老和尚在世的時候，常講的兩段話，跟大家分享：

「修慧必須明理，修福莫如惜福。」

「消一分習氣，就見一分光明；
忍十分煩惱，就得一分自在。」

《維摩詰經》有雲：「有法門名無盡燈者，譬如一燈然百千燈，冥者皆明，明終不盡。」

期待佛陀正法燈燈相傳，無有窮盡🌹

Our Federation and College participated in this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2022 hosted by York Region Police.

Glad to have this opportunity to introduce Medicine Buddha to all, we have also looped Medicine Buddha sutra in the background the entire time. Hope whoever sees it or hears it would be embraced with the light of Medicine Buddha for better health and free from pain.

Stay strong, Zhengzhou 🌹🌹🌹

Zhengzhou is the capital of east-central China's Henan province. This city is so dear and special to me. It is the first city I travelled to in China, and is also the city that I would go to couple times a year.

Even though I have been to Zhengzhou so many times, I am only more familiar with Dengfeng county, solely because it is where my most admired Shaolin Temple locates.

Due to the time difference between Canada and China, I stayed up all night to closely follow up with how the rainstorm and flooding evolved in Zhengzhou.

Shaolin Temple and its Pagoda Forest were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 as part of the "Historic Monuments of Dengfeng". It was extremely devastating to watch the severe rainstorms flooding such a place with distinct prestige. Thankful to say, that the water at the Temple subsided the very next day.

Shaolin Temple is blessed to recover the very nice day, but many people are still suffering in other parts of Zhengzhou.

As the Light Offerings, we have used candles to form the words of “Zhengzhou Jiaoyou”, encouraging everyone in Zhengzhou to stay strong.

May the great compassionate blessings from Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva ease the pains of those affected by the rainstorm. The recitation of Ksitigarbha mantra and prayer, and also chanting of the Buddha’s name mantra, while at the same time earnestly taking refuge and making strong prayers. It is beneficial to all who are affected by the rainstorm, even if you are not affected personally. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva helps and nurture us, taking on the miseries of all sentient beings. He will fulfill all of our requests with his Dharma treasures and merits, thereby inspiring us to uncover our Buddha nature.

May Medicine Buddha be sending healing energy to those in need.

Imagine that this process instantly, completely, and permanently eliminates and purifies all disease, pain, and suffering and—importantly—the causes of disease, pain, and suffering. In addition, the causes of holistic well-being of mind and body stream in with limitless abundance.

While visualizing this process, recite Medicine Buddha’s mantra. There are a few variants of the mantra, depending on lineage. This is one version of the mantra, which is in Sanskrit:

TAYATA, OM BEKADZE BEKADZE
MAHA BEKADZE BEKADZE,
RADZA SAMUNGATE
SOHA

This is pronounced:

Tie-ya-tar, om beck-and-zay beck-and-zay
ma-ha beck-and-zay beck-and-zay
run-zuh sum-oon-gut-eh
so-ha.

Severe flooding in the city of Dengfeng including my second home, the Shaolin Temple. Staying up all night to connect with Shifu and fellow Kungfu brothers and friends, glad to know that they are all safe.

Whether it be tornados, hurricanes, heavy rain, storms, floods, earthquakes, or fires, that are happening around our world…

May all beings everywhere, whether near or far, whether known to me or unknown, be happy. May they be well. May they be peaceful. May they be free.

May everyone’s hearts be filled with loving kindness.

On this day Buddha was born, became enlightened and attained Parinirvana.

"Vesak", the Day of the Full Moon in the month of May, is the most sacred day to millions of Buddhists around the world. It was on the Day of Vesak two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C., that the Buddha was born. It was also on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha attained enlightenment, and it was on the Day of Vesak that the Buddha in his eightieth year passed away.

Winter Solstice – D**g Zhi

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, winter is the time to conserve our energy so we can prepare to have a healthy spring and summer.

Winter solstice is the day where yin energy is at its peak. On this day, there is the least amount of sunlight and most amount of darkness. The good news is after the 21st, we gradually get more daylight.

D**g Zhi means “the arrival of winter”. It is one of the more important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians.

For Chinese, this is a day for family gatherings and traditionally, tang yuan or glutinous rice balls are served in the South, where in the North dumplings will be served.

Tang Yuan is a sweet soup with glutinous rice balls. They are often filled with sweetened peanut or black sesame paste. Eating Tang Yuan signified family unity and prosperity.

Synchronizing in a sense... we are snowing here in Canada too 😉

Haven’t been back for over a year, hopefully things will settle down with covid subsidies, so we can resume the travel back to the Temple and host our annual conference here in North America again....

Today marks the ☼ 20th Solar Term ‘Minor Snow’

Meteorologically speaking as the term suggests the seasonal node speaks to when we see the first dusting of snow and the chill of winter sets in. Night takes hold over daylight and folks retire earlier to stay warm.

The element of Yin Water in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is associated with the kidneys, ears and feet. During the winter months it’s vital to nurture and nourish ones kidney Qi as it can easily be depleted. Honour the fundamental principles of winter through – rest, reflection and conserving energy. So it’s wise to take care of the aforementioned parts of the body like wearing a hat /ear muffs to keep ears warm and to minimize the emotions of fear and anxiety, which maybe heightened this month.
