⚕️ How steroid injections work for scars
• Decrease excess collagen production
• Soften and flatten the raised tissue
• Calm symptoms like itch or tenderness
• Does not work for non-raised/atrophic scarring (eg. widened scars, acne ice pick/boxcar/rolling scars)

🌿 Keloid treatment is about improvement, not perfection:
• Scars often become flatter and less noticeable
• Colour and texture can improve over time. Telangiectasias/vessels can occur. Some thickening or dyspigmentations almost always remains
• Multiple sessions are needed, and keloids can recur, especially if irritated or re-injured

✨Swipe to see how IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) helped this patient with facial redness and sun-induced pigmentation✨

After 2 IPL sessions, we saw:
• Softer overall redness
• Lightening of brown spots / sun damage
• Brighter, more even skin tone
⭐️In another couple of months, skin laxity will visibly improve from collagen induction.

How does IPL help redness & spots?

🔆 For brown spots
Light from IPL is drawn to the extra pigment in sun spots.
The spots:
• Absorb the light
• Break into tiny fragments
• Look a bit darker, then flake or fade over several days

🔴 For redness & tiny vessels
IPL targets the colour in small blood vessels (telangiectasias).
The vessels are gently heated so they can:
• Shrink
• Become less visible over time
Result → skin looks more even and less red.

But IPL isn’t for everyone:
⚠️ Needs extra caution in deeper skin tones
⚠️ Not ideal for certain pigmentations eg melasma
