🦶 Ankle Sprains 101 🦶

Ankle sprains are one of the most common sports and everyday injuries — but not all sprains are the same. Here are the 3 stages:

1️⃣ Grade 1 – Mild stretch of the ligament, slight swelling, minimal loss of function
2️⃣ Grade 2 – Partial tear, moderate swelling/bruising, some difficulty bearing weight
3️⃣ Grade 3 – Complete tear, significant swelling/bruising, severe pain, and inability to bear weight

💡 First Aid Tip: Remember R.I.C.E.
Rest – Take a break from weight-bearing activity
Ice – 15–20 mins every 2–3 hours in the first 48 hours
Compression – Use an elastic bandage to reduce swelling
Elevation – Keep the ankle above heart level to manage swelling

🚑 If you’ve had an ankle sprain, contact Apple Creek Sports Medicine for expert rehabilitation to help you recover safely and prevent future injuries.
