Art that meets residents where they are.🖌️

At Extendicare Elginwood, residents take part in guided art sessions that support self-expression and confidence, especially for those who may find words harder to access.

“It may look like a simple class, but it’s a therapeutic process that helps people cope with different life challenges,” shares Leigh-Ann Grove, Recreation Manager at Extendicare Elginwood.

is about spending time with people who matter the most. When someone you love is living with dementia, that time together might look a little different, but connection is still possible, and still matters. Familiar voices, music, old photos, and quiet moments can bring comfort and help your loved one feel safe and supported.

In our latest video, Karen Simpson, Extendicare's Manager of Behavioural Services and Dementia Care and Nurse Practitioner, highlights practical ways to maintain meaningful connections with a loved one who is affected by dementia.

This Valentine's Day, we are sharing the beautiful love story of Margaret and Roland who have been married for nearly 70 years. 💙

Their story began in a one-room schoolhouse, continued through handwritten letters sent across 400 miles, and led to a rainy wedding day they still laugh about today. Together, they raised four children, welcomed ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and built a lifetime of memories rooted in faith, partnership, and a whole lot of card games.

Read more about Margaret and Roland here:

After almost 70 years of marriage, Roland still says the secret to long-lasting love is simple: “Learn to say yes, dear.”  The Extendicare Tri-Town residents have a heartwarming love story that began in a one-room schoolhouse in Haileybury, Ontario, long before electricity reached the area.....

June and Walter's love story began more than 15 years ago when they met through mutual friends and a shared love of horse racing. In December 2025, surrounded by fellow residents, team members, family and friends, June and Walter said "I do" in the town square of the home.

It was all-hands-on-deck to transform Michener Hill into a fairytale wedding venue - the town square was transformed with florals and decor, Executive Director Jason walked June down the aisle, and the day was beautifully photographed by Maintenance Supervisor Jason.

Happy first Valentine’s Day to the newlyweds, June and Walter ❤️
