Sounds supportive but in fact it can sometimes silence real pain.
When we only make room for happy emotions, we unintentionally shut down honest conversations about struggle, sadness, grief, or stress. This is called toxic positivityâand it often makes people feel ashamed for feeling anything negative.
⨠True support means holding space for all emotionsâjoy and discomfort, hope and fear, forgiveness and anger. You don't have to fake a smile to be worthy of care.
