Hello everyone,

We finally received our shipment of flu vaccines from public health. Unfortunately, we have not received any high dose flu vaccines (for patients older than 65 years) thus far, and public health has not informed us as to when or if we will. However, the regular flu shot is preferable to no shot at all, so if you are a senior please consider booking in for a regular flu shot. Some pharmacies still have high dose vaccines available, so please feel free to check with your pharmacy.

At present, we are booking flu vaccine clinics ONLY for children under the age of 5 years, seniors over 65 years, or if you have an underlying health condition that would qualify you as high risk. If you are unsure if you qualify, please ask your doctor. Please call the office to book your flu shot, and keep in mind that these visits are for flu shots only and may not be with your own MD.

As we continue on with flu season, we will be opening our flu clinics to all patients, but presently we will be focusing on the above groups.

Thanks for your understanding, and keep well.

Flu vaccines at TCMC
Hello everyone!

We hope you are all keeping well as we head into the second wave of this covid-19 pandemic. We have been getting a lot of calls regarding this year's flu vaccine. As you know, it is important that we minimize the burden of flu illness this year. We highly recommend everyone get the flu vaccine if possible. We do not yet have our shipment of flu shots (as of October 9, 2020) but are expecting it to arrive from public health soon.

This year, as always, we will be reserving our first shipment of flu vaccines for our high-risk patients, seniors over 65 years, pregnant women, and children under the age of 5 years.

Please note the following:

1- Seniors: this year the high dose flu vaccine for seniors will be available at pharmacies. We encourage you to get your flu shot at the pharmacy and let us know if you did get it elsewhere. We will be attempting to call all of our rostered patients over the age 65 to let them know when the vaccine is available.

2- This year we will be booking flu shot appointments for designated flu clinics. This means you may not be able to see your own doctor for the flu shot. The visit will be ONLY for flu shot administration, and therefore no other issues can be addressed. Thanks for your understanding.

3- Children from 6 months old to 5 years: pharmacies are unable to administer to this age range so we will be booking appointments for these children. Due to limited supplies we ask that parents of children older than 5 go to a pharmacy for the vaccine. Please note that if this is the first year that a child under the age of 8 has had a flu shot, they will need a booster one month after the first shot.

If you are unsure whether you qualify as high risk or whether you should get the vaccine this year please feel free to book a telephone appointment to discuss with your doctor.

All patients with appointments will be expected to self-monitor for covid- like symptoms and if any signs of illness on the day of your appointment, please cancel your appointment.

Wishing you a safe and healthy fall and winter...

Dear patients: Our physicians are still available to provide you care. As of March 18, 2020, we will be attempting to move all visits to either a telephone or virtual platform. We will have one physician on site daily who will see patients requiring an in-person assessment, by appointment only. In addition, the after- hours clinic will also operate by appointment only. Feel free to contact us by phone or via our patient portal. We thank you for your cooperation and patience, and please continue to follow us for updates during the COVID-19 pandemic.
