Why does listening feel exhausting? 😮‍💨

Listening fatigue happens when your brain works overtime to fill in the gaps caused by hearing loss. Because you have to use more cognitive resources to process sound, you have fewer resources left for other things. That's why even mild hearing loss can make everyday tasks feel mentally draining.

Cold, wet weather can be tough on your hearing aids, but a few simple steps can keep them working perfectly all season long:

1️⃣ Check Your Devices – Moisture can cause distorted sound or battery issues. Wipe them dry if needed.
2️⃣ Keep Batteries Warm – Store extra batteries at room temperature to prevent premature drain.
3️⃣ Dry Overnight – Open battery compartments or use a dehumidifier/rechargeable dry box.
4️⃣ Wear Hats & Earmuffs – Protect your ears and your devices outdoors.
5️⃣ Secure Them for Sports – For skiing, snowboarding, or sledding, either secure your hearing aids by wearing protective headgear or a tight-fitting sweatband, or consider taking them out so they don't get damaged.

With Health Canada’s approval of the Apple AirPods Pro 2 hearing test and hearing aid features nearly a year ago, it’s easy to assume over-the-counter hearing aids are available in Canada.

🩺 Did you know high blood pressure is correlated with hearing loss?

A Canadian study on adults with hypertension found that men were 70% more likely and women were 60% more likely to experience hearing problems compared to their counterparts without hypertension.
