60 Years Ago Today: A Moment of History in Mattawa 🇨🇦On February 15, 1965, as the new Canadian flag was raised for the first time, Mattawa’s own Dr. Saint-Firmin Monestime—Canada’s first elected Black mayor—stood with heartfelt pride, reading the dedication at Mattawa Town Hall. His words carried a message of unity, hope, and pride as our nation embraced a new symbol of its identity.Sixty years later, that same spirit of togetherness shines stronger than ever. In times of change and challenge, we stand side by side—proud, determined, and unwavering in our love for this great country.Let’s honor the legacy of leaders like Dr. Monestime and celebrate the Canada we build together every day. 🇨🇦❤️
