Your body remembers the story, even if your mind doesn’t.

Incorporating somatic approaches with therapy can help process and release survival energy trapped from trauma. It can also help grow your resilience and increase your capacity for stress.

While talk therapy alone can be helpful at times, a whole body approach to therapy can elevate your healing. 🌱

Meet Trenton Akers! 😊

Many reasons motivate people to seek therapy. As a result, Trent feels it is essential that a therapist be informed about sevral different healing strategies. Trent has been working and volunteering in mental health since 2015. Trent holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW) and Master’s Degree in Social Work with a Clinical Specialty (MSW) from the University of Calgary.
Trent has experience working with diverse issues and is open to incorporating holistic healing methods into treatment planning. In conjunction with traditional talk-based psychotherapy with many clients, he integrates elements of mindfulness and meditation.

Trent has lived experience as a person with a disability (Cerebral Palsy), which also informs his practice. Trent believes that mental health is not the absence of illness but the continuation of wellness and is distinct for every person.

If you are looking for a companion on your path to better mental health, Trent is willing to join with you on your journey.

So happy to have Trent at Psynergy! 😊

Let’s read about Jaime Adams! 🍃

Jaime is a body-centered counselor whose therapeutic approach is rooted in a somatic touch lens.

She has worked and studied in the helping field for 14 years, beginning her journey as a touch therapist at a treatment centre in the Shuswap, British Colombia. As a somatic-informed therapist, Jaime brings a nurture by nature approach to her work, believing that clients can integrate their physical bodies into the therapeutic process to support healing of both mind and body.

Over the years, Jaime has continued to expand her education and credentials. She is a certified Death Doula, Addiction Counselor, Professional Counselor, Life Coach, Shadow Integration Therapist, Polyvagal Informed Practitioner, Ketamine and Psychedelic informed body worker, Holistic Wellness Counsellor, and a Trauma and Addiction instructor at Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver, B.C.

Jaime has worked extensively as a disability service worker, working with nonverbal adults and their families. Her somatic approach aids her while working closely with her non-verbal clients through co-regulation by tapping into their somatic wisdom to support and understand them better. Jaime believes paying close attention to what our bodies tell us can help us understand our whole selves.

As a somatic-informed therapist, Jaime aims to provide psychoeducation that incorporates body-oriented modalities such as breathwork, meditation, inventory of the nervous system (vagal toning) and mind-body assessment experiences into her sessions.

Jaime’s gentle soul allows for comfort and natural growth in sessions. We are so grateful she is here at Psynergy! 🍃

Meet Trevor 👋

Trevor is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who works from a strong mind–body perspective, supporting individuals, couples, and high-performing professionals.

He offers individual and couples counselling, as well as corporate and organizational support, with a focus on first responders, PTSD and occupational stress, and people working in high-pressure roles.

Trevor also has a strong interest in sports and performance psychology, supporting athletes and high performers with focus, confidence, recovery, and resilience—while emphasizing the importance of physical health, movement, nutrition, rest, and nervous-system regulation.

In his couples work, Trevor focuses on improving communication, emotional regulation, understanding, and connection—often supporting partners as they navigate the demands that come with high-stress careers.

Community connection is also important to Trevor. He co-facilitates the no-cost OSI-CAN peer support group for first responders impacted by operational stress injuries, including PTSD. He is also involved with HALO Air Ambulance, supporting their Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) programming and ongoing well-being initiatives for crew working in demanding roles.

He works with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, substance use, grief, emotion regulation, and life transitions. His integrative, client-centered approach blends evidence-based therapy with practical tools, authenticity, and a bit of humour to help clients feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely cared for.

If you’re curious about working together, feel free to reach out and connect with Trevor to see if it’s the right fit. His availability is limited, so early inquiries are encouraged.

So happy to have Trevor with us at Psynergy!!
