A day out to celebrate the end of the school year as an aunt and a reminder of the sheer joy in play. Watching her light up at the arcade brought me back to what so many of us forget as adults, and I totally got into it too!

Play is not a luxury, it is essential. It helps us manage stress, stay curious, and experience moments of true joy. Protect that spark, you are never too old to play 🧡

You don’t have to do it all to be a good mom.
You just need to be there—with love, patience, and care for yourself, too.

Its hard when the constant messages are work as if you do not have kids but parent as if you do not work.

Let’s break the myth that motherhood means running on empty.

Today, we honour the strength and resilience of those living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Trauma leaves deep wounds, often invisible, but with support, understanding, and compassion, healing is possible. At Sashbear, we stand with individuals and families affected by PTSD. Let's break the silence, reduce stigma, and open the door to connection and care.

ℹ️🌿 WHAT IS RETRAUMATIZATION ANYWAY? |

Working with trauma can be complex, intense, draining, energizing, rewarding, and invigorating all at the same time. It is hard work, but it is so rewarding to see clients move out of the grips of their past into the expansion of their present and future.

One thing that makes trauma treatment so intense is the connection between our past and our present. It is easy for clients to lose connection to their present and slip into their past.

We spend a great deal of time helping clients develop the skills needed to explore their past while staying in their present. You might have heard the phrase, “separating the then from the now”. It is a very common phrase used in trauma treatment circles, and it can be helpful to clients who don’t register the difference between “then” and “now.”

We have over 6,000 thoughts everyday! Many of them are irrational. For many of them, we do not need to analyze, or control, or buy into. We can let them go.

This infographic, by shows some ideal times when its okay to let go of thoughts.

Letting go of unwanted and intrusive thoughts can be very challenging.

Here are some strategies that can help:
-Awareness of the thoughts
-Mindfulness of how the thoughts are impacting our body and feelings
-Trying to accept the feelings underneath the thoughts, but not the thoughts themselves
-Practicing mindfulness
Writing down your thoughts on paper and trying to reframe them to make them more in touch with reality and make them work better for you
-Practice self-care
-Connect with your social supports
-Talk to others who you trust about your thoughts. You do not have to share the content of your thoughts.
