🍀 A little luck, a lot of smiles, and a whole lot of fun! 🍀
We might be a few days late sharing, but the St. Patrick’s Day fun at River Ridge was too good not to post! 💚
Our celebration wasn’t just a one day event… the leprechauns stuck around for a few days of mischief 👀✨
The Work Life Committee hid “gold coins” throughout the home, turning it into an ongoing treasure hunt for our residents and their families. And of course, every lucky find came with a sweet surprise! 🍫🍀
With festive music, laughter, and a bit of Irish magic in the air, it was days full of joy and unforgettable moments ☘️

Each month, we highlight a STRIVE story from across our community. These stories reflect what we stand for as an organization and showcase how we strive for excellence in everything we do, through meaningful connection, clear communication, and exceptional senior care.

Across the Park Place communities, we value creating an environment where residents feel welcomed and able to be themselves. Thoughtful programming allows everyone to make new friends, get creative, and have fun. When activities are designed around residents’ personal interests and abilities, they feel more included, and our community is strengthened.

This month’s STRIVE story is from Shaughnessy Seniors Community in Port Coquitlam:

The recreation department underwent a major transformation, introducing a vibrant calendar of activities such as baking, pet therapy, church services, Bingo, breakfast and lunch clubs, happy hours, ice cream socials, high tea, live entertainment, garden walks, bus outings, and specialized dementia programming. Community connections were expanded by welcoming local students for performances and sing-alongs. Sonia’s creative leadership was instrumental in driving these enhancements, which have significantly improved residents’ quality of life, increased family satisfaction, and fostered greater pride and collaboration within the team.

When people think about different levels of care in seniors living, one of their first questions is about everyday routines. A big one that often comes up is mealtimes.

Meals are an important part of the day, and what support looks like changes across different levels of care.

In Independent Living, mealtime looks similar to living on your own. Cooking in your own suite, eating on your own schedule, or sharing a chef-prepared meal with others.

In Type B (Supportive Living), seniors receive support at mealtime if it’s needed, and personal routines and preferences are respected. Meals continue to be something residents look forward to and enjoy.

In Type A care, dining is part of a fully supported environment, where meals are thoughtfully prepared and help is always available. Your loved one is always cared for with dignity and attention at mealtimes.

Across every level of support, our goal is to preserve independence where possible, provide help when needed, and create moments of comfort, familiarity, and joy.
