Today, we'd like to share something fairly remarkable.

As you may know, using bottle drives is a common fundraising strategy for various clubs, and perhaps most commonly used by minor sports teams and associations. The REDI Bottle Depot is always happy to assist such clubs in their fundraising efforts...after all, it's a relatively easy way to generate some quick cash for your purpose!

Anyhow, Medicine Hat Lacrosse Club, also known as the Sundevils, have pulled off a rather amazing feat. They recently conducted a bottle drive effort through the REDI Bottle Depot that raised $13,064!

Not a typo. That's THIRTEEN THOUSAND AND SIXTY FOUR DOLLARS.

To the best of our recollection (we're trying hard to verify, but reliable records only go back about 15 years, and the depot has been around since 1977) this may be the largest single bottle drive that we've ever dealt with!

Congratulations, Sundevils, on this remarkable achievement. We're sure that you will put these funds to a great purpose by creating sporting opportunities for young athletes.

REDI would like to extend a great big THANK YOU to the good folks from the Brooks Elks Lodge for their generous donation of $1000, which will help send some amazing Brooks and area people to summer camp.

This is a highlight of the year for many of the people that REDI supports, and any chance we can get to reduce financial barriers to access to camp is very much appreciated.

Thanks again to the Elks Lodge of Brooks!

For this scheduled Earth Day (Wednesday, April 22), come bring your recyclable beverage containers to the REDI Bottle Depot, where ALL proceeds go to support REDI's work in the community.

It's like caring for the environment and the community, all in one simple act!

John and Larry of The Action Group (TAG) delivered a great presentation to Medicine Hat City Council last night about accessibility issues in public places.

They were supported by some of their fellow TAG members, some employees and board representation from REDI, and really engaged the audience with their stories, photos, and video.

The issue prompted some good questions and discussion involving city council members and city management, and on behalf of REDI and TAG we'd like to thank everyone there for listening to John and Larry and taking the issue seriously.

This is a great example of how important it is for people with disabilities to have a voice and a platform. Thank you to city council and management for listening!
