Eating Disorder Awareness Week is a reminder that health doesnât have a âlookâ.
This week invites us to take a closer look at the belief that thinness equals health, a message often rooted in diet culture, weight stigma, and healthism. These ideas can show up in subtle, everyday ways, like labeling foods as âgoodâ or âbad,â praising certain bodies, or treating weight loss as the main marker of health.
Even when unintended, messages that tie worth, health, or success to body size or food choices can contribute to the development, maintenance, or relapse of eating disorders. They donât just affect individuals, they shape systems, reinforce stigma, and create barriers to compassionate, equitable care.
This week, we invite you to:
⢠Question diet culture messages
⢠Practice body respect
⢠Share accurate, compassionate information
⢠Reach out for yourself or for someone you care about
Support is allowed.
If eating feels overwhelming or rigid, Kendre is available when youâre ready.
