Oh hotel life! I have both a love and a dislike you. Sometimes my work takes me away from home. When away from home, this mat and this mala are my well loved companions. Navigating a high-stress, high-trauma work on the road, I find solace in my morning yoga practice. With each breath, I fortify my nervous system, allowing myself to delve deeper in myself so that I can move through the day with empathy and understanding. When the pressure mounts, I pause, ground myself placing my feel firmly on the floor, I sift my body, and release tension with a sigh, using my surroundings to regain focus and maintain presence. A simple mindfulness practice. I invite you to try this too. My well-loved mat is a symbol of resilience, a reminder of the strength that lies within and while I can’t always unroll it, but I can come back to how I feel on it. Through the transformative power of yoga, I unlock the ability to be present, to rise above challenges, embracing each day moment as it is. May your practices support you as you move through this day.
I might be on the road, but our wonderful teachers are in studio for you teaching both online and in studio. 💕🌺🌹🙏

Tonight, as I paddle and watch the sunset. I reflect on stillness, on presence, and on the gift of yoga and meditation. I use to think meditation was sitting in stillness, in lotus pose holding a mudra for long period of time. Bruce Lee once said, “What is true stillness? Stillness in movement.” Hmmmmm maybe meditation can be anything that trains attention and focus with the intention if witnessing and stilling the mind. When practicing yoga we call this dropping in. Meditation in motion!! What is dropping in? That sweet moment that you drop into breath, hear only your teacher’s voice, let go of control by settling into trust, moving in the way you are being guided to move. Letting everything else be…… Complete presense. Complete bliss. Complete relief. Here is the beauty- the more you practice, the easier it is to find these feelings in other moments and in other places, needing relief less and less because you are already there. 💕🌹

Not to long ago a good friend said to me, Chris, you can find the silver lining is almost anything. I’m just not sure that is always good for you. I had to let that peculate a bit. Is it? Is it hurting me? 👇
The answer is sometimes.
Yet, I’ve been the half empty person. I’ve been the person that always looked to the negative. The person who chose to focus on their pain. That hurt me too! It specifically hurt me when my choir of as****es would start singing- you know those thoughts in your head that tell you aren’t enough, you should have done better, and you aren’t worth. We’ve all got them.
It’s taken a lot of work to recognize when the monkey mind is going wild and I’m settling into stinking thinking. Then I remember the teachings: thoughts are just thoughts, they are not who you are. They may not even be your thoughts, they might be thoughts someone else has given to you. Where have I heard this before? I release a breath- remember that the practice of Ahimsa (one of the eight limbs) means being non-violent to myself too. I am my biggest critic, and with great intention, I can be my biggest nurturer and cheerleader. With great love I can, most often, I can witness those thoughts rather than be those thoughts, and with care release them.
Is staying positive hard work? Some days. Yet, with time, focused practice, and …. self-awareness it has gotten easier- way easier.
So with that, I’ll heed my friend’s warning. I’ll honour the negitive (we don’t want to bypass), do what needs to be done, and still focus on the silver lining. It is so much more peaceful here. 😉🙏💕🌹🌸

Hi. This is Tami. I've been a Physical Therapist for 26 years with vast interests in athletes. I've been a team therapist for the Canadian National Swim Team at the Commonwealth games, have worked with professional athletes and amateur athletes in many sports. I've been dared to do a couple of triathlons, one being Ironman Canada and the other Ironman Cozumel but now, prefer mostly adventuring in the mountains and being a basketball groupee for my son. Treating sports injuries, creating custom orthotics and women’s health issues are of professional interest to me. I have a wonderful partner that shares my love of life. I have horses and dogs and a cat, beautiful friends and a supportive family.
The Yoga studio/retreats is a spiritually derived calling following the tragic accident and death of my beautiful daughter. It's become an extraordinary journey and has brought incredible people into our lives. The studio is a place of refuge. A place to practice and inspire community and a place to launch ideas and interests that are intriguing, beautiful and contribute to conscious health and inspired living. The teachers that have found themselves at the studio have completed a base line of 200 hour teacher training as well as various professional designations. We offer a variety of classes, sessional workshops, international yoga retreats and in September of 2020, I will be offering a 200 hour yoga teacher training.
At our studio, we believe in building our community. We want you to show up exactly how you are and settle in to learning from every teacher as every teacher has something to offer. Yoga is about joining people together. It’s about stilling the mind and training for grounding and strength to better be able to navigate the storms of life.
Navigating CoVid 19 has been a great challenge for many studios across North America. We’re still here with certain hygiene practices and social distancing recommendations in place. Because we believe in the gift of human connection, we want to put our energies into the studio and see you at the studio.
