We need regulation of Counselling Therapy in Alberta to protect the public from anyone who makes claims to be a counselling therapist and yet has no credentials, education or training. At this point, without regulation, this is not illegal in Alberta. If you are an Albertan, show your support by clicking on the link below and filling out a short form that creates a letter for you that is sent to the Alberta Minister of Health stating your concerns that they are not moving forward with regulation to protect the public.

Feelings - why are they so important? Why do I need to understand them? And if they are negative, why do I want to even experience them? For some individuals, getting in touch with one's feelings can be very difficult as feelings may have been discounted within their family of origin or how they have been trained growing up or through the nature of their work to push feelings away. Some people can be completely cut off from feelings in their own life and they can even think that this is a way of protecting themselves. But actually it ends up hurting them in the long run and hurting their chances of having a successful relationship. Why? Because feelings are an important aspect of what needs to be communicated in relationships in order for those relationships to be meaningful.
