WELCOME TO THE TEAM, TRENT LELAND, NP

Trent Leland grew up in Kinistino, Saskatchewan. He moved to Saskatoon after high school where he obtained degrees in Physiology and Pharmacology, Nursing, and recently completed his Masters in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner. Trent's career began on Neurosciences at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon where he received a broad range of experience over his 10 years of employment. He looks forward to the change of pace as he steps into the Nurse Practitioner role in Melfort.

Trent resides in Melfort with his wife and two daughters. Trent enjoys spending time with his family and friends, being outdoors fishing, hiking and hunting, and finds great joy in the small town lifestyle. He looks forward to providing patient-centred care for the Melfort community and surrounding area.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM, TAYLOR ARNOLD, NP

Taylor Arnold is proud to be born and raised in La Ronge Saskatchewan, with a deep connection to the north and a genuine passion for the outdoors. She planted roots in the Melfort community four years ago, where she now shares her life with her husband and their beloved dogs.

Taylor’s career began in emergency nursing, where she gained invaluable experience working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. Her drive to broaden her impact on patient care inspired her to pursue further education, culminating in a Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner degree. She is excited to offer comprehensive, patient-centered care to the community.

What is a Nurse Practitioner?

Nurse practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses who have additional education and nursing experience, which enables them to:

Autonomously diagnose and treat illnesses
Order and interpret tests
Prescribe medications
Perform medical procedures
NPs are health-care professionals who treat the whole person, an approach that includes:

Addressing needs relating to a person’s physical and mental health
Gathering medical history
Focusing on how an illness affects a person’s life and family
Offering ways for a person to lead a healthy life
Teaching persons how to manage chronic illness
NPs are also educators and researchers who can be consulted by other health-care team members.

THANK YOU Your Independent Grocer for the generous donation of $1000 to Melfort Primary Health Care! Primary Health Care is an important and essential component of healthcare services in our community, such as Home Care, Public Health, Therapies, Mental Health & Addictions, and our new Nurse Practitioner Clinic opening soon!

Melfort Primary Health Care works closely with our community partners. Cindy’s provides weekly food rescue to our Food Sharing program at Mental Health. And now she has stepped up again and donated even more! We will use these gift cards to purchase items that support people experiencing a vulnerable time in their lives and connect them into health care in our community.
