Mother Nature is turning up the heat. Tips to avoid illness during extended periods of heat:
1. Stay out of the heat 🥵& avoid direct sun ☀️ between 11am & 3pm. If you do need to be out, use sunscreen and wear a hat.
2. Cool yourself down - drink lots of fluids & eat cold foods with high water content like fruit 🍉 🍎
3. Avoid any extreme physical exertion and keep in the shade whenever possible. If you don't have access to air conditioning at home, use fans and keep window blinds closed (open windows at night, if possible, to cool the indoors)
4. Look out for others - check on isolated, elderly, or very young people to make sure they are staying cool

During February-April of 2025, the Age-Friendly Melfort Task Group set out to assess the city by delivering surveys and survey posters to various locations throughout the city for citizens to complete.
The purpose of the survey was to collect information about:
 The Age-Friendly assets that are currently present in Melfort and,
 The barriers or gaps that need to be addressed in order to improve the community and reduce isolation, especially for older adults and those with physical limitations.

Check out this summary of the survey results!

💡 Think you can spot a scam? Protect yourself in three quick steps:
1. Never share personal or financial details in response to unexpected calls, texts, or emails—even if they claim to be from your bank or the police.
2. Pause and verify- If someone demands money or gift cards “right now” (a hallmark of emergency or grandparent scams), hang up and call a trusted family member or the relevant agency directly.
3. Report and block- Block suspicious numbers and report any scam attempts to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or online.
