Choosing a doula
I prefer to mee

t with you and your partner at least once before labour to get acquainted, discuss your priorities and any fears or concerns, and to plan how we might work best together. Also for an additional $150.00 you can rent a birthing pool to labor at home with prior to going to the hospital or for a homebirth. When you are in labour
Please call me when you think you are in labour, even if you do not yet need support. At this point, together I will decide if you need immediate assistance or if I should wait for further change. Approximately one hour, on top of driving time, is needed to get to you from the time you ask your doula to come. I will also decide where to meet--at your home or the hospital. Except for extraordinary circumstances, I as your doula or back up will remain with you throughout labour and birth. In the event you have a false alarm and the doula has been called to the hospital and is then sent home, there will be a charge of $30 due at time of occurrence. THIS CAN USUALLY BE AVOIDED WITH PHONE CONTACT OR A VISIT TO YOUR DOCTOR'S OFFICE. During Your Labour
As your doula I reserves the right to be relieved by back up in the event I have becomes ill or for any reason I am unable to properly support you during your labour. After 20 hours of labour support I may also call in back up. A back up will only be called in when I as your primary doula feels that it is in your best interest. After the birth
As your I doula usually remains with you for one or two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together. Postpartum visit
I am available for phone contact to answer questions about the birth or your baby, and would like to get together with you within one to two weeks to see how you are doing, to review the birth, to admire your baby, and to get feedback from you about my role. What doulas do not do As a doula, we do not:
*Perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and others. We are there to provide only physical comfort, emotional support and advocacy. *Make decisions for you. We will help you get the information necessary to make informed decisions. We will also remind you if there is a departure from your Birth Plan. *Speak to the staff instead of you regarding matters where decisions are being made. We will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff. Failure to provide service

Every effort will be made to provide the services described here. Sometimes this is impossible (for example, with a rapid labour). If I as your primary, or my back up doula fails to attend your birth due to our error you will be given a full refund. C-Sections

If you have a scheduled c-section, your doula will offer to attend the birth. If you choose not to have a doula, then you will be refunded $325. If you decide to have a doula at your c-section, you will be refunded $200 of the $450. If you have received labour support, and then have to receive a c-section, no refund will be given. Fees

The fee for the services described here are 450.00, to be paid as follows: $125 as a non-refundable retainer fee, due when you select your doula
$325 due by two weeks before the due date. If the baby is born before this time, your payment is due within ten days after the birth. If an induction or c-section is scheduled, payment is due before the scheduled date. Note: this does not include mileage. Mileage varies depending on the distance I have to travel

Pretty in the Cradle Doula services and contract

Service Agreement for Doula Support

My role as your Doula: I’m independently employed and hired directly by you and (if applicable) your partner. Please note that I am working for you. I am not working for your care provider or hospital. It’s important for you to understand that I cannot - and do not - guarantee a specific outcome for your birth. My goal is to help you have a satisfying birth as you define it. My role as a birth doula is to provide physical, emotional, and informational support to women during their labour as well as encouraging communication with the staff at the birthplace to ensure that you have the information needed to make informed decisions regarding your baby’s birth. All information you give to me I keep strictly confidential. It is not my place to - and I will not - judge or question your choices. Initial Consultation: The first meeting is a time for us to get to know each other and decide if we want to work together. It is very important that you and your partner are comfortable with me and with my role in the birth. If you or your partner decide that we do not fit well, I encourage you to say so, and I will be happy to refer you to a list of local Doulas with whom you may have a better connection. If you do decide to retain me as your doula, you must sign this contract and return it via email or in person. The Retainer Fee is due upon return of this contract signed by you (and your partner). The Retainer Fee of $125 is required in order to reserve your due date on my calendar. A payment receipt upon request

Prenatal Visit: It is important to meet before the labour to explore and discuss your priorities and to plan how we might best work together. During the prenatal meetings, we will review your preferences for labour and birth. I will ask about the expectations you have of your partner and myself during the birth, plus the roles of anyone else that will be present.
