Hello all. I was asked if I was doing massages again this winter. After much consideration I decided that yes, I will be offering massages on Fridays and Sundays only. My space is a little bit different (I always have some changes on the go, lol) and I will only be offering one or two massage sessions per week. The rest of the time is set aside for the grandson and in finishing a little course I am working on ;)
You may reach out to me if you are in need of a little something relaxxy and I will schedule you in.
Thank you!
Connie

Hello all. I have come to the decision to postpone opening my little massage business until at least January 2022. I am feeling all the feels around this whole pandemic thing and my strongest feeling is "hold off for a bit." So, in having said that, anyone who has outstanding gift certificates, I will certainly honour a refund if you so choose. I will keep you posted. Take care. Stay cozy. - Connie

Remember as a child some of us maybe heard the words "you're grounded" coming from a caregiver? I felt those very distinct words today while offering a massage, but chuckled because the meaning I was feeling was not the one to which most of us are accustomed. It was more "you're still, you're relaxed, you're in a place of safety and pause and, not unlike the stones, you're grounded." Maybe in those moments of time out and penalty in our lives we should embrace the alternate meaning of an ill intentioned fate and appreciate the irony. I'm grounded? Good, I'll take it.

It is the last day of February 2021 and I'm really feeling that desire for spring. My scilla that I planted in a pot in the fall have come up and have bloomed, some herb seeds I've started are really taking off in their sunny home in a south window and the little rose bush I got from my husband is sending out new growth daily. Everything is leaning toward growth. I hope you are, too.

Got this lovely little conversation starter game. Highly recommend it for quiet nights of getting to know one better.

Safe space can mean different things to different people. 💛

Sometimes a safe space looks like a weathered wooden bench next to a pond.

At other times, safe space may be a socially distanced interaction with a friend, or a warm snuggle with a family member or pet.

You may even find that the massage table can be a safe space. The cocoon-like effect of soft sheets and blankets, a table warmer and the sensory input of compassionate bodywork can create a truly unique experience.

In grief, safe spaces can be hard to find, so when we do find a safe place it can become a cherished anchor.

What does a safe space in grief look like for you? 💛

Mild winter days, hope for tomorrow and a feeling of overwhelming positivity. Hoping Manitoba can see restrictions lifted soon. When that happens I’ll be sure to post that I’m welcoming clients to my space once again. In the meantime, eat well, stay active and keep being sunny.

...these are a few of my hyggeligt things...

What brings you comfort and warmth as we near the winter solstice, the longest night of the year? I've brought together a few of my favourite, comforting things. To this image I could also add to my personal Hygge toolbox a candle, a special mug of hot tea or coffee, a comfortable throw blanket, wool socks or slippers, the list goes on. I have a 'slipper basket' which is home to multiple styles of slippers. That basket is also one of my favourite things as it was handmade by my sister.

I guess I'm thinking that during these interesting times, I'm finding comfort in being surrounded by small tokens that represent me. In the photo, for example, the Mary Oliver book of poetry is a go to for me when I want my mind to be nourished. With poetry, I'm not invested in a lengthy read; it can last as long as I turn the page to a new poem. The candy cane candle holder was my grandma McLenehan's, gifted to me by my Aunt Betty. The vintage postcard was my grandma Crepeele's, found during Covid as I sorted through old boxes (did you know my great grandmother on the Crepeele side was named Eliza Huyghebaert...nice to have 'huyghe' in the family tree, lol). The spruce boughs are from a recent walk to one of my favourite places in our little corner of the province, the walking trails west of town. The tea cup just has a funky pattern that I like (not sure which side of the family that teacup is even from) and the little red lantern is from our cottage on PEI, another favourite place. Of course there is chocolate (anyone who knows me knows that brings comfort). Each of these items invoke some small remembrance of the past that brings me closer to myself, to who I was, am and have become. So...what are some of your favourite things? What little tokens exist within your home that bring you closer to those you can't be physically with during this Christmas season? Bring them out, dust them off and give them light.

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas of 2020. I truly am in keen anticipation of a better new year for us all. I'll be sure to post when I am available for massage bookings again. In the meantime, get some fresh air, sit in the light coming through your window, gather the little things that make you happy and embrace your inner hygge!

After much consideration, consultation and research, I am going to opt to close my massage business while Prairie Mountain Health is under Code Orange. I don’t really want to go this route but the safety of my clients and my family is of the utmost importance to me. I hope you understand and I will be in touch with you all when the Pandemic Response Level returns to yellow. Stay safe and take care.

I felt at ease...

I felt at ease. It was a deep relief. My body just melted into the massage table, my therapist telling me to just let myself sink down, get comfy, get grounded.

The stones helped. It was like with every touch my anxiety, my stress was just, well, removed. My therapist talked very little, just when something needed to be said. She talked about the healing power of the stones, the water, the heat, the hands, the intention, the intuition. The returning ourselves to a moment of peace, giving ourselves permission to pause and release. Accepting guidance and direction. To be still.

I felt at ease.
