🌱 Supporting Local Childcare!

Today we were pleased to present a donation cheque to Vicki Waldbauer from Away We Grow (Care Inc.), a trusted nonprofit childcare provider in Melville, SK, serving families since 2007.

The funds were raised through our condo owner-run *Mall in the Hall*, where volunteers display donated items for sale, with all proceeds supporting a different local charity regularly.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shopped, and supported this initiative. Your generosity helps make a difference for children and families in our community. 💛🌿

The holiday spirit is already shining bright here at Cumberland Villas! Today our ladies gathered for a cozy Christmas card–making afternoon, creating beautiful handmade cards for their loved ones.

The room was filled with laughter, joy, creativity, and conversation as residents selected festive papers, stickers, and ribbons to design something truly special. Moments like these remind us how meaningful it is to create from the heart—especially during the Christmas season.

We’re so grateful for the warmth and community that fills our home. 💙

Tryna covered a range of important topics, including:

✔️ And several other essential legal services

Her clear explanations and practical examples helped everyone better understand when and how notary services can support them and their families.

What else would you do on a Saturday night at Cumberland Villas?
Get ready for the *Tour of Lights*, of course!

Our residents and staff teamed up this past Saturday evening to start preparing our outdoor display for the upcoming Melville ‘Tour of Lights’ in the Regional Park on November 28th. The laughter, teamwork, and festive spirit made the chilly night feel warm.

You’ll have to come by to see the final masterpiece — and trust us, it’s worth the drive!

A huge thank you to our incredible residents and staff for rolling up their sleeves and helping bring this year’s display to life. 💙✨

🎁✨ Operation Christmas Child Packing Party at Cumberland Villas ✨🎁

Today our community came together for our 2nd Annual Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing party—and what a beautiful afternoon it was.

Our residents generously pooled together toys, essential items, and funds, to pack 30 shoeboxes filled with love, hope, and joy. 💙 Each one is now on its way to bless a child somewhere in the world.

We were also inspired by Diane Exner, who shared stories from their trips delivering shoeboxes to children in Mexico. Her and Jay’s firsthand experiences reminded us just how meaningful these simple gifts can be in the lives of children.

Laughter and teamwork filled the room as everyone worked side by side, thoughtfully selecting items and imagining the smiles each box will bring. Moments like these remind us how special our Cumberland Villas community truly is.

🇨🇦 Honouring Remembrance Day at Cumberland Villas 🇨🇦

We were honoured to host the 752 Melville Air Cadets, who led a beautiful in-house Remembrance Day ceremony for our residents last night. 🌺

A special moment included the laying of the wreath by our very own Constable T. Chamberlain (RCMP). Following the ceremony, the cadets and residents enjoyed time together—sharing stories, laughter, and even a few friendly games. 💙

It was a meaningful day of remembrance, connection, and community across generations.

✨ Facing Fear & Building Resilience ✨

During ice cream time on November 8th, we enjoyed an inspiring talk by Lana Starchuck on being resilient and stepping outside our comfort zones. Drawing from her skydiving experience, Lana shared how awareness, trust, confidence, and acceptance can help us overcome fear and strengthen our mental, emotional, and physical wellness.

🧠 **Understanding Pain, Healing Through Wellness**

As we continue to build on our **Four Pillars of Wellness — Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Mental**, we were grateful to have **Lisa Markham**, Mental Health and Chronic Pain Counsellor, join us for an incredibly insightful session.

Lisa shared how the **brain processes pain**, the **connection between thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations**, and offered **practical strategies and tools** to help **reframe the pain experience**. Her approach touched on all four pillars, reminding us how interconnected the mind, body, and spirit truly are.

It was a **full house** — and for good reason! Everyone left encouraged, informed, and reminded that healing involves the whole person. 💙
