Mental health IS health. And it affects us all. 💙

Behind every statistic is a story: a neighbour, a friend, a loved one. Today, we’re sharing voices from our community. People who know firsthand the heartbreak of waiting, the fear of stigma, and the toll of not having timely mental health care close to home.

Right now, patients in crisis often wait DAYS in the GBGH Emergency Department, because our region doesn’t have enough acute mental health beds. They aren’t receiving the care they urgently need, in the environment they deserve, or with the dignity every person in crisis should have.

This is not okay. It’s time for change. 💕

Through our "We See You: Inside & Out" campaign, we are working to bring a new 48,400 sq. ft. acute mental health unit to Georgian Bay General Hospital — increasing capacity in our region and ensuring compassionate, life-saving care is available right here at home.

Today is World Sight Day, and we’re celebrating the power of seeing clearly, in every sense of the word.

When something affects your eyesight, your first stop is often the hospital. At GBGH, our Emergency Department team cares for 5–10 patients every day with eye concerns, ranging from injuries to infections and even sudden vision loss.

✨ Thanks to the generosity of our donors, a new Slit Lamp was purchased for GBGH last year! This upgraded equipment has given our Emergency Physicians the ability to diagnose eye conditions promptly and safely, right here at the hospital.

Through our "We See You: Inside & Out" campaign, we’re reminded that seeing goes beyond vision. 💫 It’s about truly seeing the needs of others and showing up with compassion.

Six-year-old Lincoln came to Georgian Bay General Hospital for surgery after a traumatic experience elsewhere left his family anxious and afraid. What they found here was care that felt personal, compassionate, and safe. 💙

From the first smile at registration to the moment Lincoln woke up from surgery – calm and comforted, with his mom right by his side – the experience became a moment of trust and healing for their family.

Stories like Lincoln’s remind us why excellent care close to home matters for our families, for our friends, for ourselves. And having the right tools and equipment is made possible by donors like you. ✨

Another reason to celebrate! 💙

⛳ This year’s Tee Off With Tay Charity Golf Tournament raised an incredible $62,000 for local causes — including a generous $24,000 gift to GBGH Foundation to fund a new portable patient lift at the hospital.

This vital equipment will make care safer and more comfortable for patients, while also protecting our staff by helping them move patients with more ease and confidence, anywhere in the hospital.

A huge thank you to Tay Township and all the event golfers, sponsors, and volunteers whose generosity and community spirit continue to make this event a tremendous success. Your support truly makes a difference! 🙌

History, community, and generosity all in one day. Ahoy, mates! ⛵💙

The boating community came together on September 13, 2025, at Harbour West Marina for their annual boater event, enjoying a lively celebration of maritime heritage, historic ship displays, and even a mock cannon battle brought to life by The Ship's Company of Penetanguishene.

Harbour West Marina proudly presented a $1,000 donation to the GBGH Foundation, collectively raised by attendees. ✨ This gift will support the Foundation's Impact Fund, addressing the hospital’s most urgent needs.

Hosting their annual event in support of GBGH since 2022, Harbour West Marina continues to make a meaningful difference in ensuring our community has access to high-quality care, right here at home.
