On World Indigenous Peoples Day, Chartwell honours the cultures and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada.

At Chartwell Allandale Station in Barrie, ON, residents had the opportunity to learn from two Indigenous cultural educators: Alyssa, whose traditional name is Medicine Spirit, and Naomi, whose traditional name is Great Singer. They generously shared traditional stories and dances with the community.

We remain committed to reconciliation, respect, and continued learning.

Debbie has always loved the magic of theatre. Thanks to Chartwell Wish of a Lifetime - Rêver pour la vie, her wish to see a major live production finally came true.

Joined by her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons, Debbie kicked off the night with dinner at La Fenice before taking in The Lion King at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Surrounded by family and swept up in the wonder of the show, it was a night she’ll never forget.

At Chartwell Carrington Place in Vernon, BC, friendship truly makes a difference. Known as the dynamic duo, Iliene and Ruth's story began six years ago when Iliene moved in, feeling nervous on her first day. Ruth's warm sense of humour put her at ease, sparking a close bond. When Ruth later lost her husband, Iliene, who had faced a similar loss, was there to support her.

Now, they're active at every event, showing how meaningful connections and caring friendships enrich life at any age.

Kyla Krawczyk, the General Manager at Chartwell Allandale Station in Barrie, ON, just swam 1.5 km across Kempenfelt Bay, all to support Chartwell Wish of a Lifetime - Rêver pour la vie!

Inspired by one of her residents who completed the same swim at age 60, Kyla set a fundraising goal of $4,000 to help grant meaningful wishes to seniors across Canada and she has surpassed it, raising over $8,000!

Kyla has seen firsthand how powerful a wish can be, with four residents in her own home having their lives touched by the charity’s mission. Her passion and commitment remind us of the impact one person can make.

"Butterfly Kisses": Chartwell Tiffin Retirement recently hosted an educational series on butterflies followed by a butterfly release party! Residents learned about inception, life, the migration process, and other fun facts before having the opportunity to hold a butterfly! Some were lucky enough to make a wish as the butterflies fluttered their wings and headed into nature.

Chartwell Tiffin's Fourth Annual BEST BUTTER TART Festival was a resounding success!! Residents flocked to the Bistro in anticipation of our festival, which showcased three new flavours of butter tarts! Each resident was provided with a score card reflecting categories for appearance, taste, finishing notes and overall score. As we released the flavours one by one, residents had fun guessing the secret ingredients. Up first, Skor, followed by rhubarb and finally crème brûlée. And the winner was: RHUBARB which will be featured as a dessert during the summer months!

We had the pleasure of supporting the Askennonia Seniors Centre summer picnic again this year at the Midland Curling Club. Following a barbeque lunch, members enjoyed live music, line dancing and ice cream. Hundreds of seniors from the surrounding communities attended and, needless to say, a toe tappin' good time was had by all!

We were pleased to participate in the annual Seniors Fair this past week in beautiful Penetanguishene. The event hosted dozens of vendors and participants at the Pentang Memorial Community Centre. We were delighted to be visited by a several attendees including a few familiar faces as several of our residents stopped by for a quick photo.

Warning! Cuteness Overload Alert! We had some very special visitors at Chartwell Tiffin this week, baby ducklings! Residents had the opportunity to get up close and personal with baby ducks for a cuddle as we welcomed these yellow furry creatures to our home. The visit included an open discussion and learning experience about our yellow feathered friends from inception to fostering and life on the ranch.

It was a very special day as Chartwell Tiffin celebrated all the resident mothers with a special high tea social featuring an upscale selection of sweets and treats served on antique China.
