Last chance to register! Chakra Balancing Workshop in Esquimalt!

If you are curious about the chakras and how they affect your body, emotions, and mental state, then this 3-hour workshop for you.

Together we will spend an afternoon learning about each chakra, its qualities, and how you can help bring each one back into balance through the use of asana (yoga poses), mudras (hand gestures), and mantras (sound).

This workshop is essential if you are looking to add to your health and wellness toolkit. Understanding how the subtle body communicates, interacts, and holds energy within the physical can help you clear, ground, heal, and become more of who you are meant to be.

This workshop is offered in Esquimalt (Feb 23), is beginner friendly, and open to everyone. Chair modifications will be offered for all asanas, so you are welcome to join no matter your mobility level.

What's your favourite yoga prop?

I'm a huge proponent of using props, or tools, in my yoga classes. I believe that props are a wonderful way to help support our practice in a myriad of ways. From blocks to bricks, to straps or pillows, props help us find our version of any asana (or pose).

🌟They help us find more ease in a restorative practice.
✨They support us when we are working toward strength and balance.
💫They provide more space if we are dealing with mobility issues or if our body size doesn't match what society tells us is "normal".
⭐And generally, they make a class more inclusive for everyone.

My favourite prop has got to be using a simple pillow (or stack of pillows) in my restorative practice. This simple addition helps my body ease into the pose and lets gravity do the work for me without putting undue stress on my joints.

MMY has been nominated in Community Votes Cowichan!

A couple of Sundays ago I had a beautiful surprise land in my inbox.

One of you lovely folks has nominated Mumma Magma Yoga in the Yoga and Meditation category of Community Votes Cowichan!

Wow.

I certainly had to take a moment to pause and breathe as I felt (and still feel) very honoured that somebody took initiative to do this without me knowing.

Whoever you are, I send you huge hugs of gratitude.

Nominations are still taking place and will run through to April 12. Top nominations move to the voting phase on April 15, and winners will be announced on May 20.

If you feel to nominate me so I have more of a chance of moving on to the voting round, I would be so grateful. It would be amazing to give this kind of boost to MMY especially with the changes that are set to take place in 2026.

Come Walk With Us!

Want to gather with community, move your body, and get some fresh air? Join me and others from the MMY community for our monthly walk/hike on Sunday, Feb 8 for a walk along the Cowichan Valley Trail.

We'll park at the West Shawnigan Lake Park parking lot and hop across the road to the CVT. I'll be there rain or shine, and I hope you will be, too!

This is part of a monthly community walk/hike that was started late last year with the help and instigation of one of MMY's lovely community members. Each month we'll pick a trail, alternating between more gentle and accessible routes and ones that are more challenging so that everyone can participate.

Suggestions for where to go are greatly appreciated! If you know of some cool trails in the area, feel free to drop them in the comments below.
