A common question our RMTs hear: “Why am I sore after a massage?”
It’s more common than you might think. When tight or stressed muscles finally get the care they need, they begin to loosen and move in new ways, similar to how they feel after a good workout. This can create temporary soreness as your body adjusts to improved circulation, muscle activation, and the release of built-up tension.
Think of it as your muscles saying, “Thanks for the reset. I’m adapting and healing.”
A few simple steps can help ease post-massage soreness:
✨ Stay hydrated
✨ Enjoy gentle movement or stretching
✨ Take a warm shower or apply heat if needed
Your body is responding to positive change, and any discomfort usually fades within a day or two. If you ever have questions, your therapist is always happy to help.
