Cold Weather Fun Starts With a Happy Spine ❄️

Winter activities are great for movement and fresh air—but cold weather can be tougher on your body than you realize. A few simple habits can help protect your spine while you enjoy the season.
🔥 Warm up before you play
Cold muscles need a few minutes of movement before sledding, skating, or snowball fights.
🧥 Dress for movement, not just warmth
Layer up so you can move freely without hunching or restricting your posture.
🧍‍♀️ Mind your posture in the cold
Relax your shoulders and keep your head upright—bundling up often leads to neck and upper-back tension.
⏸️ Take breaks and switch activities
Changing movements helps reduce repetitive strain on the spine and joints.
💧 Listen to your body afterward
Stiffness or soreness is a sign your spine may need some extra support or recovery time.

Stay active, stay warm, and enjoy winter—your spine will thank you. ❄️

Let your body settle, breathe, and melt into the calm of the season.

Now that the holiday hustle and bustle is slowing down, take time to rest, unwind, and enjoy the simple moments with the people you love. Your body deserves this gentle pause just as much as your heart does. ❤

❄️ Winter Posture Check ❄️
As the season gets busier (and colder!), it’s easy to slip into habits that leave our backs feeling stiff and achy. A few small changes can make a big difference in how your spine feels through the holidays.
Here are some winter posture reminders to keep you comfy and supported:
✨ Couch time counts
Holiday movies are the best—but long periods of slouching aren’t. Add a pillow behind your lower back and try to sit tall every so often.
🎁 Gift-wrapping without the hunch
Set up at table height instead of the floor. Your back will thank you later.
🧣 Relax those “winter shoulders”
Cold weather makes us tense up without noticing. Keep warm layers handy and gently stretch your neck and shoulders throughout the day.
❄️ Little habits go a long way
The goal isn’t perfect posture—it’s small, mindful tweaks to help your body feel its best this season.
Stay cozy, stay supported, and enjoy the winter moments. 🤍

Snow Shoveling: One of Winter’s Biggest Back Strains

Snow shoveling might look like a simple chore, but it places a lot of stress on your spine—especially in cold weather. A few small habits can make a big difference in protecting your back:
❄️ Stretch first to warm up cold, tight muscles
❄️ Use proper technique by bending at the hips and knees, not the waist
❄️ Push, don’t throw whenever possible to reduce twisting
❄️ Take breaks to avoid fatigue and strain
❄️ Stay hydrated, even in colder temperatures
Move mindfully, listen to your body, and give your spine the extra care it deserves this winter.

Thank You, Tina ❤

After five wonderful years with our clinic, Tina will be retiring, with her last day on Friday, December 19th.
Tina brought a special understanding, kindness, and humour to everything she did.

While we’re sad to see her go, we’re so grateful for the expertise, dedication, and care she’s shared with our team and our community over the years. Tina has truly made a lasting impact, and she will be deeply missed.

Please join us in wishing her all the very best as she begins this exciting new chapter.

Step into snow, step up your fitness game.

Walking in the snow can actually be beneficial for your body. Uneven surfaces engage more muscles, improve balance, and encourage your core to work harder to support your spine.

That said, it also places extra demands on the hips, knees, and lower back—especially if you’re rushing or walking on icy ground. Slowing your pace, taking shorter steps, and staying upright can help reduce strain.

Important reminder: dress for the weather. Supportive, non-slip footwear and warm layers aren’t just about comfort—they help keep your body aligned and reduce the risk of slips and sudden strain.

As with any activity, listen to your body and choose safety first in winter conditions. ❄️
