This is a question I am often asked,

Can I eat during labour?
The short answer is yes.

There may be medical reasons why you shouldn’t (I.e scheduled c-section)

But there should be no reason why you can’t have something to eat.
Stick to light and filling foods that boost your energy and easy to digest.

February is Black History Month and this is a great time to talk about some amazing women in maternal and paediatric medicine.

Dr Rebecca Lee Crumpler is up first.
Here are just a few of the many accomplishments she achieved over the years.

She was buried with an unmarked grave for 125 years.
The first black woman who became a doctor in the U.S had an unmarked grave. It wasn’t until 2020 when she received a granite gravestone through donations.

This little lady made me a mom four years ago today and is the reason I’ve become a doula.

She is growing into such a beautiful soul and I’m so excited to watch her grow and witness the world through her eyes.

She’s going to do wonderful things one day and I can’t believe I get to say she’s mine.
