Minden Animal Hospital

Minden Animal Hospital Minden Animal Hospital is the place to go for friendly & caring service for you and your furry family

At the Minden Animal hospital, it is clear we’re all animal lovers with 40+ pets between us. Each staff member is dedicated to making your pets’ visit to the hospital as anxiety free as possible. This may explain why so many of our clients tell us that their dogs happily run to the door of the hospital, and pull their owners down the hall to our exam rooms for their weigh in and examination. We treat them like our own animals and want their visit with us to be stress free and fun even if they are having procedures they do not want. At the Minden Animal Hospital you will find proactive wellness exams to prevent many health crises, acting on small problems before they become big ones. Instead of treating symptoms, the cause of the problem is addressed and your animals get better in far less time. Education on preventive measures to keep pets healthy or to catch problems early on, helps your pets live longer and healthier lives. This full service clinic offers internal medicine; surgery, dentistry, radiology, in- house diagnostics, comfort priority protocols including therapeutic laser treatments, pharmacy on site, alternative medicine, house calls, specialist referrals (or they travel to our hospital) and second mile service, with a smile, every time you come in. Because sometimes illness in our pets happens at an inopportune time and financing some treatment plans can be tough, we offer payment plans and credit care for our clients. Call us today to book an appointment so we can meet you and your pet!

Another Dolly 🥰

This stunning collie is usually a little unsure about vet visits and struggles with some high anxiety, but today? Absolutely crushed it. 💪💉

With patience, gentle handling, and a few confidence boosts, Dolly showed that brave doesn’t mean fearless — it means trying anyway.
She took her vaccines like a pro and left with her dignity, plenty of praise (and treats 🤫) fully intact.

We’re so proud of you, Dolly! Fear-free wins like this are our favorite kind 💙🐕

🚨 Coyote Breeding Season Reminder 🚨

The next 4–6 weeks mark coyote breeding season. During this time, coyotes can become more aggressive and territorial and may gather in packs. While they are not typically a threat to humans, they can pose a serious danger to small pets. 🐾

Please take extra precautions:
👣 Be aware of your surroundings when out for walks and carry a whistle or noise deterrent with you.
🚽 Never leave small dogs unattended outside for potty breaks, even briefly—always supervise
❗Be aware that coyotes are agile animals and capable of jumping tall fences
🍗 Remove wildlife attractants like pet food, bird seed, compost, and fallen fruit
Let’s keep our pets and community safe!

MAH newest patient: Denis Aaron Purrball 🐱✨
This 10-week-old ragdoll kitten came in for his first vaccines and headed home with deworming and flea & tick prevention — officially starting life on the right paw!

He arrived tiny, fluffy, and suspicious.
He departed brave, protected and extremely convinced he has been wronged.

He was very courageous, only slightly dramatic, and is now enjoying a well-earned nap after a big day of growing up. We’re so proud of this little guy and can’t wait to watch him grow! 💙🐾

This is Dolly 💛

This brave 5-year-old hound/lab cross has been on an incredible journey.
When Dolly came to us last September, she could barely walk or support herself , we unfortunately found out she was battling a significant neurological disease. 😔
Following a long and challenging referral journey, the transformation has been amazing to see. 🥰

With ongoing management of her neurological diagnoses and the support of Cystostar treatment, Dolly is steadily getting back to her true self. 😇

Along the way, she’s also faced anxiety — and met every challenge with quiet courage and resilience. ⭐️

We’re so proud of how far she’s come. Watching Dolly grow stronger each day is exactly why we do what we do 🐾💙

Meet Maple 🍁
Age: 1.5 🎂
Job: Professional kisser (he thinks he gets paid per kiss). 💋
Hobbies: Being so handsome it shouldn't be legal, kissing anyone with a face, thinking all strangers are just best friends he hasn't met yet. 😇

Maple was a foster dog for approximately 5 minutes before he told his mom he was staying- a total foster WIN. 🏆

Maple is living his best life and we love that for him. 🥰
Can't wait to see you again! 🫶

Meet Theo 😍
A handsome 4-month-old Golden Retriever who came in for some head shaking and left as the happiest boy in the hospital! 😁✨

Since we last saw him just a month ago, Theo has gained over 18 lbs. 💪 and can now officially be classified as a BIG boy (emotionally still just a baby, obviously). 😇

Even with the head shaking, the tail wags were nonstop, the smiles were contagious and he was 100% unaware he was here for a doctor appointment.

10/10 good boy. Feel better soon big guy! 🐾🫶

🎉HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉

New Year’s resolution:
✨ Eat better.
✨ Exercise more.
✨ FINALLY get pet insurance before my dog eats something that “defies science” again.

Because let’s be honest…
🐶 Dogs will eat socks, rocks, Christmas ornaments, and vibes.
🐱 Cats will knock things off counters like it’s their full-time job.

Pet insurance:
✅ For peace of mind
✅ For emergency vet visits
✅ For when your pet decides to start the year with ✨chaos✨

📣Good News: We offer a FREE Trupanion exam day trial for pets 3-years-old and younger- because accidents don't wait for your budget to catch up 🏃

Here’s to fewer surprises in 2026… and more treats 🐾🥂

🎆New Year, New BOOMS! 🎆

Tomorrow means fireworks… and while we may love them, our small-but-mighty-eared friends might not. 🐶🐱

Fireworks can trigger fear and a fight-or-flight response in pets, leading to shaking, panting, hiding, barking, escape attempts, or destructive behavior — and sadly, this can result in injury, stress, or even pets going missing.

✨ Help keep your pets safe & comfy:

🐾 Walk earlier before dark so potty breaks are done.
🛏 Create a safe haven with cozy bedding & familiar scents.
🔊 Use white noise or calming music to mask loud sounds.
🏠 Keep pets indoors with no escape routes.
🧠 Offer distractions like food puzzles, soft chews & comfort.
❤️ Don’t leave them home alone during fireworks.

Let’s ring in the New Year safely — for everyone in the family 🐾🎉

❄️WINTER SAFETY TIP ❄️

🚫 No ice is safe ice 🚫

Please be extremely cautious around frozen lakes, ponds, and rivers—for both you and your dog.

⚠️ Important reminders:
• Ice should be at least 6 inches thick to support safe walking.
• Always tell someone where you’re going if frozen water is on your planned route.
• Avoid ice completely if there is moving water or if there has been a recent thaw.

Pets can easily run ahead and fall through ice, putting both them and their owners in serious danger. When in doubt, stay off the ice and choose a safer path.

Cold weather safety saves lives—yours and theirs 🐾❄️
