At the Minden Animal hospital, it is clear we’re all animal lovers with 40+ pets between us. Each staff member is dedicated to making your pets’ visit to the hospital as anxiety free as possible. This may explain why so many of our clients tell us that their dogs happily run to the door of the hospital, and pull their owners down the hall to our exam rooms for their weigh in and examination. We treat them like our own animals and want their visit with us to be stress free and fun even if they are having procedures they do not want. At the Minden Animal Hospital you will find proactive wellness exams to prevent many health crises, acting on small problems before they become big ones. Instead of treating symptoms, the cause of the problem is addressed and your animals get better in far less time. Education on preventive measures to keep pets healthy or to catch problems early on, helps your pets live longer and healthier lives. This full service clinic offers internal medicine; surgery, dentistry, radiology, in- house diagnostics, comfort priority protocols including therapeutic laser treatments, pharmacy on site, alternative medicine, house calls, specialist referrals (or they travel to our hospital) and second mile service, with a smile, every time you come in. Because sometimes illness in our pets happens at an inopportune time and financing some treatment plans can be tough, we offer payment plans and credit care for our clients. Say hello to our very first Pet of the Month… the one, the only… Oaklee! 💙

Oaklee has been coming in for his monthly Librela injections for almost a year now to help manage his arthritis—and wow, what a difference it’s made! He’s moving more comfortably and living his best life (as he should 👑).

But let’s be honest… Oaklee isn’t just here for his treatment. He’s really here for the VIP perks: unlimited treats, all the attention, and being told how handsome he is approximately 47 times per visit 🍖🥰

We absolutely love seeing Oaklee’s sweet face every month—it’s truly the highlight of our day!

If Border Collies had a spokesperson, it would 100% be Johnnie ✨🐾
This sweet, gentle soul came in last week for his vaccines and honestly… we’re not convinced he realized it was a vet visit. Tail wagging, big smiles, soaking up every bit of attention like it was the best day ever.
Vaccines? No problem.
Snuggles? ABSOLUTELY.

We’re pretty sure if we let him, Johnnie would book himself weekly appointments just for the attention.

Living in a rural community, we know access to immediate veterinary support isn’t always easy—that’s why we’re committed to being more available for you and your pets when you need us most.

Our clinic is now offering round-the-clock support care for our clients. If you have concerns after hours, you can call us anytime and speak directly with a Registered Veterinary Technician who will help guide you, answer your questions, and direct you to the most appropriate next steps for your pet.

It’s estimated that only 15–25% of after-hours veterinary calls are true emergencies. The majority—over 70%—are situations that can often be safely managed until regular clinic hours.
If your pet’s condition can be safely managed, we will ensure you are scheduled into our regular hours as soon as possible—helping you avoid unnecessary long waits at an emergency hospital.

If your pet does require urgent or emergency care, we will guide you through the next steps, provide a referral if needed, and ensure you’re heading somewhere that can see you as quickly as possible.

We’re here to provide reassurance, clarity, and support—helping
reduce stress, anxiety, and unnecessary emergency visits whenever possible. 🐾

Meet Lily: 115lbs of drama, drool, majestic fur and main character energy. 😇
At just 2 years old, this Newfoundland has firmly established herself as a problem child… which in our world just means VIP regular. 👑

Lily vs. our flooring? Ongoing feud. Lifelong enemies. Absolutely not happening. She will NOT walk on it under any circumstances. So naturally, we’ve adapted to her standards:
🌟Side door entrance only (lobby is lava) 🔥
🌟VIP access through the staff room when needed
🌟A ride on the gurney from the lobby to the treatment room like the royalty she is (yes, we lift all 115lbs of her onto the gurney)
🌟Or our personal favorite: the custom runway of rugs from the front door straight to her exam room
Because if Lily says the floor is unacceptable… who are we to argue?

And let’s talk about the drool. Mom comes prepared with a full-time drool towel (honestly, a heroic level of preparedness) because Lily produces approximately one gallon of slobber per minute. It’s impressive. It’s iconic. And we love her for it. 😬

Despite her strong opinions about interior design, Lily is an absolute rockstar. By 2 years old, she’s already had both cruciate ligaments (equivalent to a human ACL) repaired and has handled everything like a total champ. She now gallops pain-free like the majestic girl she is.

Brave, resilient, and just a little bit dramatic about flooring choices. 💪
We love you, Lily. Even if you refuse to touch our floors like they personally offended you. 🥰🌟🐾

Monkee the Bedlington… or should we say, Monkee the tiny dinosaur 🦖🐾

This sweet 10-year-old girl came in today and absolutely stole our hearts, like always. 😍 Monkee has been rocking her signature “dinosaur” look for years now, and we are absolutely OBSESSED. She knows she’s cute—and honestly, she’s not wrong 🌟🐾

Dad made the amazing decision to sign her up on a Senior Wellness Plan plus 6 months of Simparica Trio—because our princess deserves the best care in her golden years 👑😇

Monkee had a full, thorough day: heartworm & tick-borne disease testing, senior bloodwork, early cancer detection screening, a urinalysis, a f***l sent out, AND her annual exam with vaccines… and not once did she complain. She was the most gentle, patient, and loving girl through it all 🥹

Honestly, if dinosaurs were this sweet, we’d be volunteering at Jurassic Park.
We love you, Monkee—you are proof that age is just a number and sweetness only gets stronger 🥰🐾🌟
