At the Minden Animal hospital, it is clear we’re all animal lovers with 40+ pets between us. Each staff member is dedicated to making your pets’ visit to the hospital as anxiety free as possible. This may explain why so many of our clients tell us that their dogs happily run to the door of the hospital, and pull their owners down the hall to our exam rooms for their weigh in and examination. We treat them like our own animals and want their visit with us to be stress free and fun even if they are having procedures they do not want. At the Minden Animal Hospital you will find proactive wellness exams to prevent many health crises, acting on small problems before they become big ones. Instead of treating symptoms, the cause of the problem is addressed and your animals get better in far less time. Education on preventive measures to keep pets healthy or to catch problems early on, helps your pets live longer and healthier lives. This full service clinic offers internal medicine; surgery, dentistry, radiology, in- house diagnostics, comfort priority protocols including therapeutic laser treatments, pharmacy on site, alternative medicine, house calls, specialist referrals (or they travel to our hospital) and second mile service, with a smile, every time you come in. Because sometimes illness in our pets happens at an inopportune time and financing some treatment plans can be tough, we offer payment plans and credit care for our clients. Shylo, a stunning German Shepherd X, visited us today for his senior wellness care—and this handsome almost-12-year-old reminded us that grey hairs just mean a life well loved. His beautiful face is getting those soft silver patches where all the color has been gently kissed off over the years. 😘

At today’s appointment, Shylo received:
🐾His routine vaccines
🐾A blood pressure check
🐾Heartworm testing
🐾Nu.Q early cancer detection screening (a proactive test that helps look for early signs of cancer in senior pets)

As pets enter their golden years, monitoring their health closely becomes incredibly important, and Shylo’s mom has been doing exactly that. Recently, he’s been struggling more with arthritis discomfort, so today we started him on Librela—and we’re excited to see how much relief it brings! 🥹

What is Librela?
Librela is a once-monthly injection designed specifically for dogs with osteoarthritis pain. It works differently than traditional pain medications by using a monoclonal antibody that targets nerve growth factor (NGF), a key player in arthritis pain. By blocking this pain pathway, Librela helps improve comfort and mobility without relying on daily medications. It’s a great option for many senior dogs.
The extra bonus? Because Librela is a monthly injection, we now get to see Shylo every month-which we absolutely adore. ☺️

We can’t wait to watch Shylo feel better and get back to enjoying his days with a little more pep in his step. Senior pets hold such a special place in our hearts, and it’s an honor to help keep them comfortable through every stage of life. 💞🐾✨

Willow the 3-year-old Boxer X arrived with one very important medical requirement: Dad must be within a 0.5 cm radius at all times. 🥲

This brave (but extremely concerned) girl decided the exam table was absolutely not acceptable, but Dad’s lap? Perfectly safe territory. 👍
With Dad providing emotional support and premium comfort services, RVT Madi successfully drew blood and trimmed Willow’s nails—while Willow practiced her award-winning “I am being dramatically inconvenienced” face. 🥹

Vaccines? ✅
Nails? ✅
Bloodwork?✅
Personal space for Dad? ❌

Willow has also scheduled her upcoming spay with a gastropexy, which is especially important for large and deep-chested breeds like Boxers. A gastropexy helps prevent gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat), a life-threatening emergency—so it’s an amazing preventative step for this sweet (and slightly dramatic) girl.

Also, if she’s going to be brave, she’s going to be extra brave… as long as Dad is holding her. ✨💞🐾

Sweet little Haze, a 16-week-old German Shepherd, visited us on Friday and completely stole our hearts. 🥰

She came in feeling a bit nervous, but this brave girl did so well—taking everything in stride and even giving us a few adorable poses for her photo session. Those ears and those eyes… how are we supposed to choose just one picture for her complimentary ID card? 📸

Haze had her f***l sample sent out to make sure she’s parasite-free, received her dewormer, received her puppy vaccines and went home with her Trupanion free 30-day exam day insurance trial—plus lots of love and reassurance. ✨💞

Denis Aaron Purrball returned to the clinic this morning to wrap up his final kitten appointment, and as always, he arrived to greet his fan club (us). 🥰

He received his boosters, rabies vaccine, and final round of dewormer like the brave little superstar he is—accepting praise, cuddles, and compliments as payment for his courage. ✨💪

He also got his neuter scheduled, which Denis believes is just another visit for more attention… we’ve decided not to correct him just yet. 🤫

We love watching our tiny patients grow up—especially the fluffy, dramatic, purr-powered ones like Denis Aaron Purrball ❤🐾

Another adorable Australian Shepherd puppy. 🐾

Little Piper stopped by for her puppy visit and completely stole our hearts! 🐾
Her loving owners enrolled her in a puppy wellness plan to give her the best start possible.

During her visit, Piper received her 12 week vaccines including Bordetella, Leptospirosis, and Lyme, along with flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, dewormer, and some medication to help the poor girl with her car sickness. 🤢

Most importantly, she received a whole lot of love and cuddles from our team (which she handled like a total pro). 🥰

We can’t wait to watch Piper grow! ⭐🐾

Last Friday, we had the joy of welcoming six adorable Australian Shepard X puppies into the clinic! 🥰🐾

They came in for their first vaccines, dewormer, and what was supposed to be a quick visit… but the puppies had other plans.

One by one, each puppy was brought to the treatment area for a "quick" nail trim that somehow turned into full-service doggy daycare in the back. 😅

There were cuddles, naps, some wrestling and a noticeable drop in productivity (totally worth it).

Safe to say, it turned out to be the perfect morale boost for Friday the 13th-No bad luck here.

It practically took the entire team to walk them out of the clinic once their visit was over (for quality control....obviously). 🤫
Each little one went home with a welcome package for their new owners, their puppy passport and vaccine certificates and plenty of extra snuggles from our staff. 💞💘

Our hearts are full after Friday’s bake sale. Thanks to your incredible generosity — every cookie bought, every donation made, every kind word shared — we raised over $850 in support of Turtle Guardians and their amazing rehabilitation work.

One story especially close to our hearts is Jeremiah, a turtle who came into their care needing intensive support. Thanks to organizations like Turtle Guardians, turtles like Jeremiah get a second chance to heal, thrive, and return to the wild where they belong. Their dedication is inspiring, and we’re proud to stand beside them.

To everyone who baked, attended, donated, or helped spread the word: thank you. Your kindness makes a real difference for wildlife in our community.

Murdoch stopped by for a visit today and showed up in his handsome Valentine's bandana like the true gentleman he is 💘

We see Murdoch regularly and he truly is the sweetest boy around- always so happy to be here and ready to soak up all the love (and give it right back). 🥰

Lily arrived to the clinic like she just won the lottery and the prize was
✨ existing. ✨

👉8 years old.
👉No stress.
👉No responsibilities.
💪Just vibes.

This girl has never had a single bad thought in her entire life. The exam room? Best place ever. The scale? Throne. The stethoscope? Clearly a necklace made just for her. 😇

She wagged so hard we considered filing a workplace hazard report. She greeted every staff member like we were long-lost best friends she hadn't seen in YEARS. She would have signed autographs if she had thumbs. 🖋

Meanwhile the rest of us are paying bills and checking emails… and Lily is out here living her best, unbothered, moisturized, thriving life. 🐾🥰

Certified 8-year-old good girl. Zero complaints. Infinite tail wags. 🫶⭐
