Palliative care is not just a place — it’s a presence. 💙

It’s found in quiet moments, in compassionate hands, and in the support that surrounds patients and families when it matters most.

This National Hospice Palliative Care Week (May 3–9), we honour the care, comfort, and dignity that reaches far beyond our walls — because palliative care is truly everywhere.

Thank you to our team, volunteers, and community for being part of this meaningful work.

If you were with us at the Gala, you may have noticed… something new 💛

And if you weren’t able to join us, we wanted to take a moment to share it with you.

After more than a year of thoughtful planning — including many conversations with our community — Mission Hospice Society has introduced a refreshed logo.

We know our original logo is familiar and meaningful to many. For nearly 40 years, it has represented compassion, care, and the heart of this organization. That hasn’t changed — and it never will. 🙏 This update was created with deep respect for that history, while helping us move forward in a way that reflects who we are today.

You’ll still notice a flower at the centre — a gentle nod to the sunflower you’ve always known. But this new design also draws inspiration from the forget-me-not, a symbol of remembrance and enduring connection.

Look a little closer, and you’ll see something even more meaningful.

Each petal is shaped like a hand 🤲 reaching inward and upward. Together, they form a circle of care, symbolizing people coming together to support one another. It’s a quiet but powerful reflection of our mission: people caring for people, through every stage of life and loss.

This change also allows us to better connect with our community today. Whether someone is finding us online, attending a program, or seeing our name on a volunteer badge, a simpler and more recognizable logo ensures we are easy to find — and easy to trust.

Our work has grown over the years — from grief support to community programs, events, and outreach — and this refreshed look helps us carry that work forward with clarity and confidence.

But most importantly, while our appearance has evolved, our purpose has not.

We remain committed to walking alongside individuals and families with compassion, dignity, and care — ensuring that no one journeys through grief or end-of-life alone. 🕊️

This is not about changing who we are. It’s about honouring where we’ve been, and thoughtfully stepping into the future — together.

Thank you for being part of our story 💛

Last night was one for the books 💛 Our largest hospice gala yet, held in a brand new space at the leisure centre—and truly, who knew a curling rink could feel so warm! It wasn’t just the setting that brought the heat, it was the undeniable warmth of this incredible community that filled every corner of the room.

We are so deeply grateful to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers who made this evening possible. To our amazing bar team, to everyone who showed up dressed spectacularly, and to those who danced the night away—you didn’t just attend, you brought the night to life.

We are honoured to support such a compassionate, generous community, and profoundly moved to feel that same care and support returned in such a powerful way.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing what community truly means 💛🙏

Today we want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to some very special volunteers—our four-legged, furry friends 🐾💛

These gentle companions bring comfort, joy, and unconditional love to residents on the Christine Morrison Floor at Mission Hospice Society. Their visits brighten days, spark smiles, and create meaningful moments that words often can’t express.

To our incredible pet therapy teams: thank you for sharing your time, your compassion, and your wonderful pups with our community. You make a difference every single visit.

Thank you Shendra and Ellie and Sandy and Kalvyn for faithfully visiting each week and bringing joy to all who see you.

With gratitude,
